Job Purpose

Data is a prized corporate asset at Regional and as part of our digital transformation, we are seeking a talented Data Architect who will help lead the design and implementation of a modern data ecosystem that will enable sophisticated business insights and on-demand operational reporting. The ideal candidate has demonstrated experience designing & implementing the full life-cycle of both Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and Operational Data Store (ODS) systems. In addition, the Data Architect will be passionate about data-driven information which will guide and influence key business decisions. This role will partner with the digital product management team as well as internal clients to understand business inquiries, drive requirements, propose solutions and deliver multiple cross-functional projects and integrations between different systems. This is a unique opportunity to build and institutionalize a best-in-class data ecosystem on premise or in the public cloud.

Duties and Responsibilities

Work closely with digital product management and key business stakeholders to determine business needs.

Develop and maintain current and target state data architectures, define strategy and roadmaps to Drive the discovery, design and implementation of our EDW and ODS systems

Serve as the technical expert responsible for the architecture, design and implementation of Business Intelligence/Data Warehouse solutions, with complete and accurate information information/data delivery using maintainable, systematic, and automated procedures.

Make recommendations about data collection methods, data management, data definitions, and evaluation methods in collaboration with internal stakeholders. Establish and maintain data marts where appropriate

Partner with Digital Product Management to define and enforce data architecture standards, procedures, metrics, and policies to ensure consistency across the portfolio

Help establish and define validation, data cleansing, integration, and data transformation practices. Also lead or co-lead data governance and quality standards.

Facilitate reporting and analytics design review sessions

Stay current with contemporary technology trends/concepts and serve as an SME for the business teams

Manage issues and bugs within the system using tracking/ support systems; liaise with internal and external resources to facilitate resolution and closure

Define reference and solution architectures that support cloud initiatives, big data and data lake use cases, and traditional data platforms

Recommend and implement cloud based data solutions (AWS, Azure or Google Cloud)

Present architecture deliverables to stakeholders at all levels of the organization

Manage a small team of data engineers and SQL Developers

Job Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Master’s degree a plus

Excellent verbal,oral, and written communication skills

Confidence communicating & translating data driven insights and technical concepts into simple terminology for business clients of various levels

7+ years of experience in data intensive roles inside or outside IT

Mastery-level Data Architecture skills - a deep understanding of data architecture patterns data warehouse, integration, APIs, data lake, and cloud technology capabilities

Experience in data management, data modeling, business intelligence, master data management, and metadata management concepts

Ability to drive initiatives autonomously

Architecture and design experience with cloud based data storage, processing, and publishing technologies (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)

Strong project management skills; ability to prioritize and manage client expectations across multiple projects

Professional development experience with and knowledge of relational databases and enterprise data warehouses, including work with MySQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or other common RDBMS

Preferred Qualifications

5+ years of experience in agile delivery models

Experience with tools such as Snowflake, Looker, Microsoft Power BI, or Tableau

Experience leading consumer-facing digital strategies, innovation, and deployment

Experience with large-scale data platforms using Big Data, cloud, and RDBMS technologies, such as Spark, Scala, Hadoop, EMR, Oracle, SQL Server, SQL, and NoSQL

Prior experience working in startups and/or the consumer finance industry

ETL Tools such as SSIS, Informatica, Skyvia etc.
