    CME Group is the world's leading and most diverse derivatives marketplace in seven major asset classes of which Interest Rates and Equity Index products are the two largest. The Financials Research and New Product Development (Fin RPD) team develops and builds financial derivative products including for these two major asset classes including Treasury, SOFR, ESTR, TBA, T-Bill, credit futures and options on futures in rates and Equity Index futures on the S&P 500, Nasdaq-100, Russell 2000, Dow Jones Industrials, international, ESG and many sub index futures and options.

    This is an exciting time to join Fin RPD. Product expansion has been significant and is expected to continue. In addition, traditional products have witnessed unprecedented growth as interest rates have climbed to higher levels not seen in a generation.

    Fin RPD plays a significant role in the generation of relevant and impactful content. Across Fin RPD, the team produces multiple publications a month to highlight industry trends and changes, product development, important increases in trading activity, and valuable insights to help clients manage their investments and risk exposures. The production of content continues to grow in important ways such as the use of deep data insight and analysis, powerful visualizations, and video content all while highlighting valuable connections between CME product construction and market activity.

    The Financials Research and New Product Development team is posting a role for a paid intern for 20 hours per week in the New York Office (minimum one 4-hour day in the office) to work closing with the Analyst team performing research and content. Responsibilities for this role involve supporting both the interest rates and equity indices teams. The role will require cross function, including but limited to Business Line Management, Sales, Operations, and Legal to support the successful launch, maintenance, and education of products.

    The intern will have a combination of strong quantitative, analytical, and written skills. The Fin RPD team is a close knit, diverse, and dynamic unit, and is geographically spread between Chicago, New York and London. There is significant teamwork and support, project management expertise, and demand of one another to work to the highest standards possible.

    Principal Accountabilities:

    Specific responsibilities the Analyst will be expected to perform include:

    • Work with Analysts and other members on the RPD team to manage the monthly research processes and automate items where possible.

    • Support product attributes including spread ratios for trading, risk analytics, modification of product specification due to market changes.

    • Work with senior management to highlight key competitive products for ESG, Energy and price reporting agencies (PRAs).

    • Create a product datamap by working closely with Research and Business line Analysts to identify existing and new data sets from internal and external sources.

    • Be proficient with data acquisition, analysis, and visualization to streamline product analysis and content creation.

    • Possess the ability to meet deadlines and ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.

    • Assist with content pieces that educate clients on product mechanics, market trends, and trading strategies.

    • Working with Research management, implementing standardization of product and content creation processes.

    Skills & Software Requirements:

    • Required: Google suite, Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

    • Helpful: Python, Looker, Tableau, Salesforce

    Education:

    • Required: Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, marketing, economics, data science, or quantitative finance and ideally working toward Masters or Ph.D.

    Work Experience:

    • 2-3 years relevant experience or knowledge is typical
