The Global Advertising and Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express products and services through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing, and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most admired brand in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective. The OnBrand team sits within GABM. We are American Express’ in-house creative agency. Our ambition is to develop forward-thinking ideas and work across channels, end-to-end experiences in digital and beyond while building inspiring brand creative and assets to drive consideration for target audiences. We are seeking a Senior Account Manager, Card Design, OnBrand.
The Senior Account Manager, Card Design, OnBrand will report to the Account Director and lead the Card Design portfolio and process end-to-end from intake through strategic alignment, design concepting and evaluation, production, launch, and post-launch. As a Senior Account Manager, Card Design, you will be responsible for strategically stewarding the card design roadmap, partnering with B2B and Consumer product teams in the U.S. and globally to translate portfolio, P&L considerations, and market needs into a cohesive design vision that supports the product line strategy. To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a background in brand management and/or product-led creative, excellent communication skills, and a passion for the intersection of product strategy, brand and design. They must be a natural collaborator, self-starter, and have experience leading teams through complex projects.
Day to day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Relationship Management:
Leverage strong interpersonal skills as the primary point of contact for Product Managers and leadership across U.S. and global markets grounding relationships in product strategy, portfolio priorities, and P&L goals
Build trusted relationships that support informed decision-making across product economics, market needs and design impact
Maintain a strong understanding for product objectives, target audiences and regional market dynamics
**Product & Design Strategy: **
Collaborate with Brand Design to translate product vision and portfolio strategy into clear card design direction, ensuring creative fidelity to product intent
Use market research, competitive analysis, and audience insights to inform design strategy across product tiers
Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and establish measurement frameworks to evaluate success.
Team Collaboration:
Collaborate with internal and external teams including strategy, creative, project management, production & card issuance to ensure the seamless execution of physical and digital card design through launch
Provide guidance and support to direct report and project management to ensure deliverables are met and projects are executed successfully and aligned to product and portfolio objectives
Foster a positive and collaborative work environment, promoting knowledge sharing and professional development.
Industry Expertise:
Stay up to date with the latest design trends, financial services products, technologies, and best practices.
Share industry and market insights with product and cross functional teams advising on emerging opportunities and long-term card design strategy in support of global product and P&L goals
Qualifications:
5+ years in product-led brand, design or product management roles at leading creative, design, or strategy agency
Demonstrated experience partnering with product leaders to inform strategy and fostering long-term partnerships
Proven ability to translate product strategy, market insights, and business objectives into clear creative and design direction
Strong analytical and product mindset with the ability to interpret data, draw insights, and make data-driven decisions
Ability to confidently evaluate brand/design work and provide clear perspectives rooted in insights and business needs
Experience evaluating brand and design work through the lens of product positioning, lifecycle and go-to-market strategy
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with strong ability to translate strategies into presentations for senior leadership
Salary Range: $103,750.00 to $174,750.00 annually + bonus + benefits
