THIS IS AN OFFICE-BASED ROLE THAT REQUIRES THE EMPLOYEE TO WORK ON- SITE
The Senior Accountant’s responsibilities include a focus on daily tasks related to administering and accounting for auto loan insurance products. This role will also support general accounting including preparing summary reports, recording journal entries and preparing account reconciliations related to assigned areas
WHAT IS A DAY IN THE LIFE AT FLAGSHIP AS A SENIOR ACCOUNTANT:
Daily review and reconciliation of activity related to loan onboarding and status changes
Ensure timely and accurate processing of accounting transactions
Responding to adhoc requests and inquiries from other departments
Manage a consistent workflow of daily activities related to new loan originations and status changes
Act as Subject matter expert for assigned areas, refining processes, leading responses to inquiries from other departments, and ensuring all process tasks are updated and accurate
Collect data, analyze, and perform research on the details of transactions
Assist with the month-end financial close process, by generating monthly standard journal entries, generating appropriate accruals, and researching variances
Assist and perform various ad hoc projects for the accounting department and other day-to-day tasks including ensuring document retention policy is complied with
Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management, and third parties
Concurrently perform multiple assignments
Must be able to work under pressure, meet deadlines, multi-task and work independently
ABOUT YOU:
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Required: Working knowledge of US GAAP, or experience 2+ years of bookkeeping and general ledger accounting
Preferred: 4+ years of progressive accounting experience, including at least 2 years as a senior accountant, or equivalent level
Prior experience in a consumer finance or auto finance company is a plus
High level of attention to detail
General understanding of general ledger journal entries and account reconciliations
Ability to work with sensitive material
