The Senior Controls Manager-DBS and Functions will be part of the Cross-Function Chief Control Office that is accountable for driving the effective governance and management of non-financial risks in the First Line of Defense across DBS (Technology, Operations, DCOO) and the Functions (Finance, Risk, Compliance, HR, Legal). As part of the First Line of Defense, the CCO ensures the bank operates within its risk appetite by providing specialist risk and control knowledge and promoting ongoing risk and control monitoring as our Bank becomes simpler, more efficient, more customer-focused, and leaner. This Senior Control Manager will be responsible for serving DBS and Functions by fulfilling the responsibilities listed by the “Risk and Control Advisory” team above for this group.
HERE'S WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT:
This role will require the holder to lead by influencing Senior Management and Regulators to demonstrate robust non-financial risk management and interfacing with Risk and Control owners on a regular basis to enable them to articulate the risk profile of their process, promoting accountable risk and control decision-making. The purpose of the role is to establish and embed an effective operational risk and internal control environment, along with interacting with the Risk Owners, Control Owners, Risk Stewards and Audit. Provide assurance that the Control Owner fully considers and consistently manages operational risk to the same optimum standard. Direct internal trigger event and thematic control reviews and ensure minimum standards of internal control commensurate with the scale and nature of operations. Report on the adequacy of the internal control environment and on compliance with regulatory and Group requirements. Be a subject matter expert in risk management, provide advice and guidance on an effective internal control environment. The holder of this role will also be expected to occasionally step outside of their immediate remit to support the broader Cross-Functions CCO and Bank.
For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $139,800 and $194,700.
The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

YOU’LL LIKELY HAVE THE FOLLOWING QUALIFICATIONS TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
Advanced degree holder, with senior level experience within the financial industry / consulting experience, and some international experience preferred
Demonstrated experience across Operations, Risk Management, and/or Audit roles requiring management of diverse risk types, including but not limited to operational, regulatory, market, traded, credit risk and noting expertise across Operational Risk.
Ability to lead and influence senior management and regulators on a variety of risk-management-related topics, building and shaping narratives as part of your background building relationships with the senior level management, stakeholders and internal management teams.
Detail-oriented and able to work independently and distil complex, ambiguous information to create insights for leaders
Ability to quickly analyses a status quo and identify opportunities for continuous improvement or process re-engineering
