Enterprise Data Management & Products (EDMP), a key part of our Technology organization, focuses on delivering data products that fuel business growth and unlock value, while also shaping robust data management strategies and governance solutions. The Enterprise Data Office (EDO) team, part of EDMP, is a global first line of defense data center of excellence responsible for realizing the potential of our data. EDO provides the principles, policies, processes, architecture, and governance to enable consistent, trusted, and usable data to drive accurate data-driven business outcomes.
Role Description:
The Senior Manager Data Governance and Policy will be responsible for supporting the Data Governance Policy and Standards, Policy Implementation Procedures, Data Risk Assessments, Effective Challenge and Control Testing Methodologies, and other key instructive and interpretive documentation that enables American Express to manage data risk.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supporting the maintenance, implementation and updating of the Enterprise Data Management Operating Policy, Standards and supporting documentation.
Assist in the development of methodologies and documentation to support data control testing and effective challenge of adherence to data policy requirements.
Documenting requirements to assess and control data risk across the data supply chain for critical risk and regulatory reports and financial crimes risk management processes.
Providing support for regulatory, independent risk management, and internal audit exams and continuous monitoring over the program.
Ensuring the successful integration of Policy, Standards and Procedure requirements into key processes within the EDO and across American Express.
Analyzing complex questions on the Policy and providing clear interpretation to key stakeholders and internal EDO colleagues.
Supporting creation of materials for regular updates to senior level stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications:
5+ years in the financial services industry in operational risk management, data risk management, internal audit or a related field.
Experience executing risk assessments (including Risk Control Self Assessment), control testing, policy adherence, and effective challenge processes.
Prior experience authoring and updating risk management policies, standards and procedures.
Bachelor's Degree

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
