    American Express’ Global Advertising & Brand Management (GABM) team is responsible for creating marketplace demand and driving commerce for American Express through differentiated and innovative branding, marketing and experiences. We have an ambitious goal: to be the most creative department in the Fortune 500 and we aim to deliver on that by doing work that is both creative and effective. Within GABM sits the Global Brand Content & Media team who is responsible for building best in class brand content across channels and audiences (including Amex’s internal creative agency, OnBrand), driving impact and innovation through global media and analytics, and delivering cultural and brand platforms that bring the Powerful Backing of American Express to life.

    The Senior Manager of US Media will lead media strategy & planning for Amex’s sports sponsorships and tentpoles, ensuring seamless brand integration and pull through across channels.

    They will develop a cohesive, cross-sport media strategy and approach, as well as partner with Media Investment & Optimization, Brand Content, Brand Social, Sponsorships and the IAT to manage and execute all paid media tied to our official league sponsorships and other sports-related media.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Lead strategy and execution of paid media for Amex’s sports sponsorships and tentpole moments
    • Maximize the impact of sports portfolio and media investments in alignment with brand positioning and goals, through development of a strategic approach and tactical execution, including the integration of sports media into broader US above-the-line media campaigns
    • Enable the operations, partner management, and end-to-end execution of all sports sponsorship and contractual media including broadcast sponsorships, integrations as well as social & digital paid media
    • Work across cross-functional teams to develop and execute integrated, prospect-facing plans for full-season and activation-led heat moments
    • Incorporate an external perspective by maintaining a pulse on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience in paid media planning, strategy and execution required
    • Experience in managing brand presence around major sports leagues required
    • Experience working with or managing agencies and media partners required, with a preference on agency background
    • Excellent project/process management and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail
    • Deep understanding of the sports media landscape, with a heavy emphasis on broadcast and broadcast sponsorships, and digital media
    • Skilled at clearly and persuasively articulating ideas, with a proficiency in creating advanced level presentations for a broad range of audiences
    • Excellent relationship management skills with proven ability to build and strengthen relationships at all levels
    • Able to work autonomously and lead collaboratively with a strong ability to bring others along
    • Inherent collaborative spirit and comfort in a matrixed environment; able to directly partner across Global Media and Media Analytics teammates, working together and relying on each other’s expertise to achieve campaign goals
    • Strong partner management skills with proven ability to influence & negotiate
    • Passion for innovation, creative problem solving, and ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
