    Job description

    The HSBC USA Strategy function is a small team of professionals guiding the overall strategy of HSBC USA and supporting the delivery of key initiatives at the very top of the strategic agenda. Senior Strategy and Planning Associates are typically assigned one or more high impact projects at a time in order to address a strategic challenge or opportunity, provide insight into our business, or research market or competitor trends. Incumbents develop experience in strategic planning and a broad-based understanding of the entire Bank while gaining meaningful exposure to senior leadership. The Senior Strategy and Planning Associates report directly to the Chief of Staff to the CEO/Head of Strategy and are based in New York, NY.

    Here’s what you can expect:

    As a Senior Strategy and Planning Associate in our corporate strategy function, your day-to-day activities will vary given the current priorities of the business. Typical activities would include framework-driven problem solving, quantitative modelling and analysis, market and competitor reviews, and program management. Creativity, analytical precision, and comfort with ambiguity are essential traits as your work will be used to enable leadership to make key decisions about the future direction of the Bank.

    It’s a dynamic, fast paced environment and the expectations are high, but you will not go at it alone. You will work in a highly collegial environment, very often with staff from across the Bank. You’ll need to be a good listener, a good communicator, and effective working within teams to drive results.     For this role, HSBC targets a fixed pay range between $115,000 and $145,000.

    The final fixed pay offer will depend on the candidate and a number of variables, including but not limited to, role responsibilities, skill set, depth of experience and education, licensing/certification requirements, internal relativity, and specific work location.

    Requirements

    Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions.

    You’ll likely have the following qualifications to succeed in this role:

    • You’ll have strong analytical and quantitative modelling skills and are able to synthesize clear insights from data

    • You are an effective communicator and are proficient with the advanced features of Excel and PowerPoint

    • You’re a self-starter and effective collaborator, able to work independently and as part of a small team

    • You will have a commercial mindset and you thrive in ambiguous and complex situations

    • You’ll have 4-6 years’ work experience in financial services, consulting, M&A, or corporate strategy

    • You hold an MBA or MBA-equivalent certification or experience.
