Data Science Manager, Risk Measurement & Intelligence
Job Description
The Square Risk Machine Learning & Decision Science group develops real-time artificial intelligence and machine learning-driven software and models to optimize for desired behavior, and remove risk from the Square Seller Ecosystem. We are looking for a collaborative Lead for the new Risk Measurement & Intelligence team. This team is developing deep statistical understanding and measurement of our ML modeling apparatus to the effect on money movement across our entire seller ecosystem of products. As a Lead for this group, you will build this new initiative with broad support from the organization.
You will work both in technical lead contributor capacity and as a people/team lead. You will assemble a team to leverage a unique set of technical skills to help us develop a risk oriented data intelligence posture on granular components of our ecosystem and the effect of our models, while evaluating and looking for additional incrementally predictive data assets.
YOU WILL:
Lead a team of Data Scientists and Analysts and set goals, collaborate, and scale with their partners; an opportunity to grow the team over the next 6-18 months.
Provide mentorship to team members through feedback, coaching, and hands-on technical guidance, focusing on their long-term growth; while reporting to the Head of Machine Learning & Decision Science for Risk.
Use modern data science and machine learning techniques to model a granular understanding of our machine learning detection apparatus and the effect on money movement and quantifiable approaches to seller experience.
Validate the efficacy of third-party data assets on increasing performance of multiple risk-based machine learning detection algorithms.
Work with other teams across Risk Machine Learning & Decision Science to build a shared understanding and realize value of incremental data assets in various machine learning training pipelines.
Qualifications
YOU HAVE:
2+ years of experience in a people management role with technical responsibilities
7+ years of data science experience or equivalent
Ph.D. or equivalent experience in Statistics or other Data Science related disciplines
Experience mentoring data scientists and data analysts.
