Job Description
Square is looking for an attorney to join our litigation team. You will be on the front line of our litigation, regulatory, and law enforcement activities. Responsibilities include managing pre-litigation, litigation and alternative dispute resolution for a wide variety of customer-related disputes. You will gain a deep understanding of Square's products and act as the face of Square, resolving conflicts and helping shape our relationships with our customers. You will report into Litigation Counsel.
You will:
Field and resolve legally sensitive complaints from Square's customers
Support internal teams on issues of risk, compliance, trust and safety, and accessibility
Directly support and handle small claims and arbitration matters
Manage outside counsel for larger matters
Qualifications
You have:
JD and are member of California bar
Minimum 5 years experience in litigation at top tier law firm, government, or in-house
Excellent writing skills
Excellent interpersonal skills with emphasis on verbal communication
Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with internal business partners
Flexibility and desire to grow as Square's legal needs evolve and expand
