    Job Description

    As the Technical Program Manager (TPM) for the Customer Data Platform and Applications, you will play a critical role in defining, executing and delivering a roadmap that unlocks the go-to-market and growth activities for all product teams across Square.  You will drive the creation of platforms, applications and integrations that unlock the value from Square’s rich customer data.

    This role is inherently cross-functional requiring you to work closely with engineering, design, operations, data science, and product managers to define scope, product requirements, roadmap as well as prioritize features. You will ensure the success of complex, cross-functional technical projects that require involvement from multiple stakeholders across the company. 

    The role is a part of Square’s Automation team that is responsible for building data platforms and applications that power intelligent and machine learning-driven personalization, communication, and marketing to sellers throughout their lifecycle. 

    TPMs at Square are masters at multitasking, facilitation, and prioritization. They are obsessed with process and focus on empathy in the product development process. They are equally comfortable communicating with executives as they are hashing out complex technical project details with engineers, data scientists, and enterprise product designers.

    AS A TPM, YOU WILL:

    • Drive large company-wide initiatives, including the adoption of the Automation team’s products across Square
    • Facilitate and manage technical projects, define scope, gather requirements, develop and track project milestones, help estimate work efforts, and manage competing priorities
    • Be responsible for the value delivered from projects from inception and discovery through release 
    • Be the connector for product, engineering, analytics, enterprise product design, and business operations through the entire project lifecycle
    • Identify blockers and facilitate the removal of those blockers
    • Manage communication of progress/status, highlight risks and clearly communicate with the Automation team, executives and other project stakeholders.

    YOU HAVE:

    • A Bachelor's Degree, ideally in a technical discipline, or equivalent work experience 
    • 3-5 years of experience managing large cross-functional engineering projects at a fast-paced, high-growth company
    • Prior experience as a Product Manager or Technical Program Manager in a technology company
    • An ability to distill complex issues into solvable and actionable tasks
    • Extremely strong project planning skills with an eye for detail
    • A superior ability to communicate with both engineers and executives
    • High energy and an ability to stay positive under pressure
    • A passion for pushing boundaries, questioning the status quo, and innovation
    • An interest in data standardization and data platform strategy

     

    EVEN BETTER:

    • Expertise in modern software engineering best practices
    • Knowledge of customer data platforms and marketing technology and personalization strategies
    • Knowledge of event logging best practices within software development
    • Agile certification - Certified Scrum Master or Certified Scrum Product owner, for example
