Job Description
Come help us move a $100B publicly traded company out of data centers and into the cloud. As Square begins our migration from data centers to the cloud, we're looking for someone to help organize the work across hundreds of product engineering teams, finance, infosec, platform teams and sometimes our cloud providers, and significantly level up our ability to deliver on this ambitious vision.
This role will be part of the Platform Infrastructure and Engineering (PIE) team, the trusted partner for every Square employee that enables product teams to succeed by providing connectivity, tools, technology and platforms. The PIE organization accelerates product and business progress by enhancing productivity and reducing friction.
The team is seeking a person with excellent interpersonal, relationship building and collaboration skills. The candidate must have a solid track record of driving complex programs with multiple stakeholders, and enough technical acumen to understand architecture at a high level.
You will:
Partner closely with engineering leads across the company to develop a migration plan from data center to cloud
Own the execution of the cloud migration plan.
Be involved in planning and tracking development of our cloud platform and migrating data center workloads to the platform
Provide day-to-day execution guidance and support for engineering projects, coordinating efforts across organizations and verticals, and helping unblock all teams across Square.
Communicate migration status broadly across the company.
Help Evangelize the Platform Initiatives at Square.
Qualifications
YOU HAVE:
Program Management or equivalent management experience in a mid to large sized company running complex programs with multiple stakeholders for at least 8 years.
Experience communicating and translating non-technical to technical (and vice versa) requirements and discussions, Organizational, coordination, and running multiple projects.
Proven ability to understand technical architecture and design.
Experience with cloud migrations
EVEN BETTER:
Programming Experience for writing shipping code and/or work experience in managing engineering teams
Experience in program management with platform infrastructure and engineering organizations/teams
Experience with managing programs with remote/distributed teams
Experience with office/datacenter builds
