    Job Description

    You will be responsible for developing new business. High level of prospection will be needed. Must be comfortable using various ways of reaching out to new prospective customers including, but not limited to, Linkedin, Email and Phone.

    Manage a defined sales territory. Territory will be comprised of an assigned number of states with active and prospective accounts. Perform commercial sales activities such as: achieving budgeted revenue for the assigned territory; obtaining, communicating, and identifying opportunities, competitive information, customer needs, trends, influences, and marketing data on all accounts within the territory. Help in the development of and implementation of comprehensive sales strategies and objectives for the territory; and accomplish personal development and training objectives. A significant amount of travel (~50%) is required, primarily to meet with customers/prospects/target companies in territory and to travel to Veranova Facilities, but also for attendance at trade shows.

    PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

    • With minimal supervision, manage a geographical sales territory to achieve planned revenue.
    • Responsible for account development and implementation for all products and services offered by the business unit. Specific tasks associated with the role are:
      • Create sales
      • Follow up on leads
      • Maintain account and contacts with account
      • Track historical contact with customer
      • Schedule meetings, follow-ups, and phone calls
      • Coordinate client visits to site facilities
      • Inform the customer on products/services offered
    • Initiate frequent customer contact, make independent sales calls, and direct sales negotiations on behalf of Veranova to maximize sales revenue and profitability.
    • Help in the development and execution of short and long term business strategies and objectives to identify high value opportunities.
    • Develop and implement lead development plan to expand business in assigned territory.
    • Assess the competitive activity within assigned territories and recommend appropriate strategies and tactics to address this activity.
    • Maintain flexibility to travel during non-work hours to meet clients for lunch/dinner.
    • Develop contacts with potential clients to establish working relationships and conduct contract negotiations.
    • Ensure business opportunities are continuously identified, researched, and analyzed.
    • Develop and introduce opportunities to appropriate business units to be critically evaluated based on its fit within business strategies and objectives.
    • Collaborate with R&D, operations, and all support functions to prioritize, transition, and to deliver key Active Pharmaceutical Ingredient (API) projects in accordance with internal and external specifications.
    • Participate in weekly internal teleconferences and communication meetings.
    • Work closely with the Business Support group, and operations to prepare and present proposals.
    • Maintain updated customer relationship management system (MS Dynamics) showing progress against new development objectives.
    • Manage expenses within budget for business travel.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    • Demonstrates technical proficiency and self-assuredness in applying cGMP standards.
    • Applies cGMP concepts in association with department specific responsibilities.
    • Ensures work is in compliance with all state and federal regulations, including but not limited to GMP, DEA, FDA, etc.

    ENVIRONMENTAL, HEALTH, & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Is knowledgeable in the understanding of all EH&S policies and procedures.
    • Ensures that all job activities comply with any EH&S related rules and regulations that pertain to the department.
    • Support the Company’s commitment for environmental health & safety by applying ISO 14001 and Sustainability 2025 principals into daily activities.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Predominately in office environment. Occasional walking, standing for long periods of time while in labs/plant, kneeling, reaching, handling, twisting, and bending spine at waist when filing or operating office equipment.
    • Ability to manage workload in a home office as a ‘remote employee.’
    • Will be expected to work long shifts, and night and weekend coverage as necessary.
    • A significant amount of travel (~50%) is required (air and land).
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    ESSENTIAL

    • BS in Chemistry, chemical/mechanical engineering or equivalent with 4-6 years experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment; MS in Chemistry, chemical/mechanical engineering or equivalent with 2-4 years experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment; or PhD in Chemistry, chemical/mechanical engineering or equivalent with 1-2 years experience in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
    • Minimum of 3-5 years experience in sales, marketing, or business/customer relations.
    • Must obtain a current and valid driver’s license.
    • Familiarity with Veranova products, services and customers.
    • Similar experience in a related industry position.
    • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team is required.
    • Good understanding of chemical processes and sound manufacturing practices related to business unit product lines and potential products.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other customer relationship management systems.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
    • Direct experience in a selling activity.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and project management skills.
    • Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently with strong decision making skills.
    • Proven ability to communicate well with all levels of the organization as well as external customers and vendors.
    • Must be flexible, and able to multi-task in a fast paced environment

    VALUED

    • Similar experience in a related industry position
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Project and Adobe Acrobat
    • Ability to interact with other Veranova business units
    • Knowledge of company products/services, market, and customers
    • Knowledge about tradeshows and promotional marketing
    • Knowledge of various contracts (CDA, MSA, RMA, Sales Agreement, Proposal, Appendix)
