Job Description
We are looking for Product Design Interns for Square Design teams in San Francisco, Atlanta, and New York City for 12 week summer opportunities. Our focus is to solve complex needs for sellers of all types and sizes by creating end-to-end experiences that are intuitive, polished, and scalable. We pride ourselves on rethinking established paradigms and redefining elegance in software. Designers at Square take projects from napkin sketches to final visual specifications. In this role, you’d be working with our multidisciplinary team to conduct research, design solutions, mock up and prototype new ideas, and present work and progress to our cross-functional teams.

ATL, COMMERCE PLATFORM DESIGN: A unique challenge that offers you, as a designer, to solve for many products and platforms in parallel—including services like Orders, Catalog, Prices, and Identities. They are products that are integral to Square’s ecosystem, and you’ll be able to help drive the design and approach on features and services that empower small and medium-sized businesses and the people behind them.
NYC, SELLER PRODUCT DESIGN: You will be responsible for working with our team of designers in defining the vision for our Point of Sale products, as well as other experiences across the Square ecosystem.
SF, POINT OF SALE AND CUSTOMERS PRODUCT DESIGN: Design future looking experiences and features used by millions of small businesses as they grow their brands with tools like Square Marketing and Square Loyalty, make sales on and offline with Square Invoices, and transact with customers face to face using the Point of Sale products. From app architecture to interaction, prototyping to visual design, our team crafts experiences that empowers individuals to start small and grow big.
Qualifications
You are:
You have:
Experience in—and passion for—turning complex problems into simple and engaging customer experiences for the web, iPad, iPhone, and Android
Interest in developing information architecture, interaction models, customer flows, schematics, and visual design for products and services
The ability to communicate interactions rapidly at varying levels of resolution
Demonstrated comfort with an iterative design process that includes accepting and acting on feedback and constructive criticism
Excellent collaboration skills
Even better:
Experience conducting customer research, including usability tests
Familiarity with creating interactive prototypes
Background in motion design and related software
