Job Description
Square's business depends on the trust of our point-of-sale merchants and Cash App customers. Network Security is a new team being formed to take ownership of network security across the company. As the Network Security Engineering Manager you'll build and manage a team of security engineers who are responsible for Square's network security across multiple production and corporate environments in the cloud and on-prem.
You will:
Build and manage a geographically distributed team who proactively hardens and secures Square's networks.
Drive network security strategy throughout the company.
Use your technical expertise to cultivate pragmatic engineering decision-making and sustain high engineering standards on the team.
Work closely with the operational network teams, and ensure that they have secure-by-default systems.
Occasional travel within the USA and Canada may be required.
Qualifications
We value engineering managers who:
Have 7+ years total experience in tech.
Have at least 2 years of experience leading teams of engineers, in both a technical and people management capacity.
Have at least 2 years of direct experience building or securing operational networks of at least moderate scale (hundreds of network devices).
Have experience interconnecting on-prem and cloud environments using Direct Connect, shared VPCs, Transit Gateway, etc. This experience may be in any AWS, GCP, or both.
Lead with a people-first approach, can facilitate a conversation rather than dictate it, and are empathetic to divergent viewpoints.
Excel at building engineering teams that are productive, collaborative and inclusive.
Build strong relationships with their counterparts, including other engineering managers, product managers, and security partners.
