Job Description
Square’s Payment Platform is an open, global financial services platform for developers who serve our merchants. It provides the necessary components to onboard new sellers by managing identity, processing their payments, transfering funds, and providing accounting, reconciliation, and reporting in a secure and compliant way.
As a Backend engineer, you will have ownership over the RESTful service that powers Terminal API. You will work with Android as well as fellow Backend engineers to develop new features and improve on existing experiences, and in the process, contribute to one of our most important projects.
You will:
Help build the Terminal API service that enables Square sellers all over the globe to take payments with Square hardware through their own own customer point of sale software
Work with other engineers across Square to develop excellent product experiences
Hold yourself, and your teammates accountable to the standards of engineering that enables Square to safely move billions of dollars in payments and allow our customers to trust us with their sensitive data
Qualifications
You have:
BS Degree or certificate in Computer Science or equivalent training and at least one year of relevant experience
A sense of customer empathy and desire to influence the product direction
Understanding and curiosity in creating well thought out, scalable, low-latency, global systems.
An openness to collaboration and willingness to grow as an engineer
