    Job Description

    The Payments team enables Square to move money. From developing infrastructure to working with external partners, we find the best ways to move money across different networks and countries in a way that is cost-effective, available, scalable, secure, and forward-looking.

    As an International Payment Operations Manager, you will be responsible for diving into the specifications and functionality of the global payments networks and working with Relationship Managers, Product, and Engineering teams to convert best practices into the code for Square’s money movement systems. You will be deeply involved in launching new functionality and markets, adapting our money movement systems to changing industry requirements, and monitoring our systems for accuracy and efficiency.

    You will:

    • Use your knowledge of Square’s payment stack to turn industry changes and mandates into scoped projects that maximize functionality and compliance while minimizing costs

    • Work with the rest of the Payments team to translate product functionality into the best set of payment network primitives

    • Work with our payment industry partners and suppliers on scoping and implementation for new features and systems

    • Creatively identify new sources of data and intelligence that can allow Square to route payments optimally

    • Work cross-functionally with our Partnerships, Product, Business, and Finance teams to develop Square’s global payments strategy

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    You have: 

    • BA/BS degree or equivalent, or 8+ years of experience working with card processing or payments at a high-growth tech company 

    • Ability to work collaboratively and cross-functionally between acquirers and industry regulators and communicate effectively with distributed stakeholders

    • The ability to straddle roles as a product manager, data analyst and relationship manager, equally willing to perform analysis and review payment network rules updates to extract key information

    • Experience working with and establishing streamlined processes around business operations and reporting

    Even better:

    • 4+ years experience working with global card brands (such as Visa, Mastercard, American Express, Discover) or focused on acquiring relationships

    • Knowledge of international payments industry practices and regional payment schemes

    • Familiarity managing debit network brands (e.g. STAR, NYCE, Pulse, Accel, Shazam, etc.) across a complex acquiring environment
