    Arundel Federal Savings Bank located in Anne Arundel County seeks a Staff Accountant.

    As the Staff Accountant you will be responsible for:

    Accounts Payable, General Accounting, and Remittance Tax Payments

    Responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll journal entries. Completes all payments and journal entries, fully, accurately, and timely. Includes general and administrative expenses and accruals; lease payments; credit card payables; employee reimbursements; and core processing expenses and accruals. Includes ACH and DDA inclearing payments. Maintains active vendor lists and contacts vendors and providers as needed.

    Responsible for remitting certain tax payments and periodic reporting including state withholding; sales and use taxes; and federal and state backup withholding payments. Assists with end of year IRS miscellaneous income and non-employee compensation reporting.

    Process multiple general ledger and bank account reconciliations, income, and expense, including the FRB account and correspondent bank accounts.

    Process accounting for subsidiary transactions, balance sheet, income statement, and tax accruals and payments.

    Reconcile and clear suspense accounts on a timely and accurate basis.

    Fixed and Prepaid Assets, Leases, and Ground Rents

    Process fixed asset and prepaid expense purchases, disposals, transfers, depreciation/amortization, maintenance contracts, and reporting.

    Assist with accounting for leases and rental payments.

    Process all aspects of ground rent invoicing and payments; accruals, redemptions, and accruals.

    Investment Portfolio Accounting and Regulatory Reporting

    Provide assistance with investment portfolio accounting processing.

    Provide assistance with quarterly OCC regulatory reporting.

    Provide assistance with bank account borrowings.

    Other Duties

    Assist with internal and external audits and examinations.

    Backup for wire transfer verifications.

    Maintain a high level of and compliance with policies, procedures, and internal controls. Develop and maintain up-to-date standard operating procedures, internal controls, and service objectives.

    Maintain excellent internal and external customer service.

    Performs other accounting/processing duties as assigned.

    Responsible for applying requirements relating to Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), and Customer Identification Program (CIP) including Beneficial Ownership (BO).

    Responsible for applying regulatory requirements during the performance of the job duties as assigned.

    Are you the one we need? If you are, you’ll have these qualifications:

    Accounting degree required. Two (2) years’ accounting experience in a financial institution or commensurate experience preferred. Associate’s degree in accounting considered with experience.

    Must possess the ability to manage multiple projects/priorities simultaneously and meet required deadlines.

    Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

    Attention to detail and a solid understanding of accounting principles.

    Excellent verbal, written, telephone and interpersonal communication skills.

    PC proficient, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), other software applications, and the Internet.

    Must possess strong service orientation and be a team participant.

    Some local travel, as needed.

    Ability to function in a financial institution environment and use of standard office equipment, including, but not limited to: PC, copier, telephone.

    Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. (i.e., file boxes).
