About the role We currently have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our Life and Behavioral Research & Development Team in the Behavioral Research Unit (to be based in Armonk, NY). In this role, you will work on behavioral research projects, with a focus on evaluating and influencing consumer behavior, synthesizing and applying primary behavioral science research within a commercial context, and collaborating closely with insurance professionals and clients. You may also contribute to research projects focused on topics such as digital wellness platforms, bias in decision-making, and the changing landscape of life, health, medicine, and technology. Typical tasks include conducting literature searches and reviews, assessing consumer behavior 'pain points', brainstorming and contributing to the design of behavioral-change interventions, analyzing quantitative behavioral data, and communicating about behavioral science with individuals inside and outside of the business. About the team The Life & Behavior R&D team is an international and multidisciplinary research team. We are responsible for the production and application of research in support of many areas of business within Swiss Re; we work on a broad range of topics such as behavioral science, longevity, and advancement in medicines & technology. The Behavioral Research Intern will work predominately in the area of behavioral research to understand the true drivers of customer behavior and to improve engagement of insurance customers. About you You will be a "self-starter" and a strong communicator who can independently carry out behavioral research in the insurance setting. * Pursuing a social science degree with a focus on human behavior, e.g., Behavioral Science, Economics, Psychology, Public Policy. * Experience with quantitative social science research, including basic training in experimental research methods and statistics/data analysis, including some use of quantitative analytics software (e.g., SPSS, R, STATA, SAS, Matlab). * Excellent speaking and presentation skills (incl. PowerPoint), in English. * Excellent organizational, analytical, teamwork and interpersonal skills. * Experience contributing to the design or implementation of academic research or commercial projects. * Confidence in discussing behavioral science with stakeholders in academic and insurance settings. * Experience in handling, prioritizing and time management of multiple tasks.
