Internship opportunity in Compliance team Symetra's Compliance team has an open summer internship position assist us in driving efforts towards effective record keeping and enhancing our SharePoint collaboration spaces. We are looking for a motivated, resourceful and conscientious candidate that will become our in-house expert on all stored information and help us to organize, synthesize, digitize, inventory, share and archive our various records accordingly. As a part of our team for the summer, successful candidate will gain hands-on experience and exposure to many of our current and historical forms and policies and processes, will be asked to effectively prioritize tasks, collaborate and coordinate with other analysts, establish guidelines and best practices, network with other information professionals for support and information sharing, and work with others on reviewing our policies and procedures to ensure their accuracy. Key Roles and Responsibilities * Assist our Compliance team in digitizing our library of physical stored documents to network/SharePoint sites * Consult with business users on the use of SharePoint collaboration sites, including configuration of SharePoint features needed by the project or proposal team * Interface with compliance staff to identify, analyze and research business needs and user requirements * Interface with IT to ensure business needs/user requirements are met * Document/Organize/Assist in creating new procedures (i.e. integrate all approved policies, procedures, forms and appendices into one hyperlinked, digital document accessible online via our Intranet) * Assist in developing training content (some procedures could be supplemented by short video clips to assist visually on how the procedure is executed) * Maintain / Develop SharePoint workflows (ensure that forms filled out online are routed to the right workflow queues (backlog of inquiries to be loaded up as a part of this exercise) Job Requirements Preferred Skills / Prerequisites * Experience working with Microsoft SharePoint * Strong organizational skills and attention to detail * Self-motivated and able to work independently and well-researched decisions with limited supervision * Excellent communication skills, both oral and written * Ability to recognize inefficiencies and recommend practical solutions * Ability to learn and operate various hardware devices and software programs * Adhere to established guidelines and policies both professional and organizational

    • Previous internship or coursework in records management and/or library science or other combination of applicable fields * Experience with Microsoft software, Adobe Acrobat and content management platforms, particularly SharePoint.
