POSITION SUMMARY: TIAAs 2019 Retail Financial Services (RFS) - SummerInternship Program is anenriching opportunity for college students who want to supplement theiracademic preparation with a challenging work experience as they launch theirprofessional careers. Successful completion of the internship can lead to afull time career opportunity at TIAA, upon graduation. _ _ Retail Financial Services (RFS) brings together the organizations that serve our individualclients, including our TIAA Bank, Individual Advisory Services, Direct InvestorServices, Retail Investment Products and Digital groups. Witha position in the Investment Management Group (IMG) Portfolio Construction Team,you will have the opportunity to support the team in making decisions that ultimately havedirect impact on client accounts. TIAAs IMGserves as the center of excellence and the investment engine supportingproducts and services delivered toindividual and institutional clients. IMG is made up of several lines of business that help our clientsachieve their goals: in-house equity& fixed income asset management teams; Investment Services team thatfocuses on trading, execution and account performance; and Investment StrategyGroup that is responsible for research, asset allocation, and portfolioconstruction. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: Summer Interns will work on an exciting mixof strategically-aligned challenging assignments and projects that help drivethe achievement of the organization's strategy and mission. Managers andcolleagues will work side by side with summer interns to ensure development andlearning. Candidates can expect to gain an understanding of TIAA and theFinancial Services industry and will be involved in creating resolutions forcomplex problems and/or transactions where business expertise is required tointerpret against policies, guidelines or processes. PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS: As part of the RFS SummerIntern Program, participants will have the opportunity to experience: * Ten weeks doing meaningful and strategic work as part of the RFSOrganization * Unique networking opportunities with senior leaders across TIAA * Ongoing personal and professional development opportunities * Opportunities to interact with interns from across TIAA Assignmentsare based on business needs and can include: * Research & analysis * Portfolio construction * Fund manager research & due diligence * Core tasks associated with product support * Data validation * Maintaining relevant information in database, charts and graphs * Developing skill set to analyze implications of adding investmentvehicles to a strategy * Assisting with the drafting and/or quality control of best practicedocuments * Assisting with model design, maintenance, control and tracking * Supporting team efforts to address regulatory and audit follow ups,drafting and updating policies and procedures documents. * Writing software to process and/or analyze large volumes of data * Document software function and usage for others QUALIFICATIONS: Required Skills: * Currently in pursuit of a Bachelors degree (preferred majors include Finance, Economics,Computer Science, Mathematics and/or Business Management) * Graduating between December 2019 and August 2020 * Overall Minimum GPA of 3.0 or better * Basicproficiency in at least one programming language required (experience writing code in R or Python a plus) **Desired Skills: ** * Understandingof financial services, investment management and portfolio management * Strong mathskills * Able tomanage business analytics with a focus on efficiency and value-add to thebusiness * Comfortablewith large amounts of data * Ability towork independently and collaboratively with a team on multiple tasks andassignments * Gather,organize, and analyze information necessary to make investment decisions * Ability tolearn investment software applications (for example, Bloomberg) * Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and conceptual skills * Extracurricular program participation in major-related areas * Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (2+ years academic orwork experience with PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) * Interest in the Financial Services Industry * Excellent communication (written and oral), with senior leaders andpeers, facilitation, interpersonal and collaborative skills * Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work withminimal supervision * Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks _**TIAA does not sponsor visas for entry-level/internship positions and, due to program format, will not hire individuals whose work eligibility is based on a F-1 or other student visa status, including, but not limited to, students who receive a STEM OPT extension. _ Equal Employment Opportunity is not just the law, its our commitment.
