  • Responsibilities

    Investment Products & Services provides Stifel's advisors specialized advice and support on professional money management, mutual funds, annuities and insurance, retirement plans, financial planning, exchange traded funds, marketing and much more.

    The Traditional Investment Product Research Intern contributes to the quantitative and fundamental research activities related to three product universes - Mutual Funds (MFs), Separately Managed Accounts (SMAs), and Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs). The Traditional Product Research Group (TPRG) provides firm-wide research support through the curation of MF, SMA, and ETF product recommended lists, which are crafted based on in-depth research performed by the team. These lists are the basis for significant client assets invested across various fee-based advisory platforms and trust company programs.

    This internship will be onsite in Stifel's St. Louis, MO headquarters.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Build expertise in manager research by learning from the team and researching best practices.

    • Apply academic knowledge and learn new skills by contributing to various projects.

    • Support team members in the initial and ongoing quantitative and qualitative analysis performed on MFs, SMAs, and ETFs.

    • Participate in investment due diligence meetings either over the phone or hosted in Stifel's St. Louis headquarters.

    • Partner with TPRG team members to learn how to write product research reports that will be made available to key internal partners and financial advisors.

    • Learn how to effectively use various investment software applications and proprietary tools in order to analyze investment products.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • General knowledge and understanding of investment products and the brokerage industry.

    • Ability to communicate effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.

    • Ability to combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions.

    • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Pursuing a college degree in Business Administration or related with at least 1 year completed preferred.

    SYSTEMS AND TECHNOLOGY

    • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
