JOB SUMMARY/OVERVIEW As an intern with TriNet Operations Accounting you will be assigned a variety of engaging and challenging hands-on accounting tasks. The intern will gain knowledge of both accounting theory and practice with an emphasis on operations accounting. The Intern will work closely with our Operations Accounting team and will work specifically on reporting and special projects that support the Operations Accounting group. The intern will assist with documenting and supporting initiatives for process improvement and SOX compliance. Intern will assist with performing analysis, preparing well documented work papers, reviewing controls to ensure the controls function as intended, and providing monthly reporting on controls within the required deadlines. The intern will be required complete a management designated capstone project and present the results to upper management at the conclusion of the internship. ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Performs monthly financial close activities, which may include journal entries Reconciles balance sheet accounts and analyze income statement accounts as assigned Analyzes expense accounts, developing a clear understanding of drivers and key performance indicators, ensuring consistency and accuracy Prepares balance sheet and income statement flux variance analyses monthly for management reporting and quarterly for 10Q reporting Supports SOX compliance and audit request relating to assigned areas of the business Supports preparation of monthly reporting for management Supports implementing process improvements as appropriate Assists and supports cross functional projects as necessary Other projects and responsibilities may be added at the managers discretion Presents assigned projects to management Fully participate in a culture of professionalism and collaboration to inspire an environment which is customer centric, responsive, and fun JOB REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS Education: Students must have a minimum 3.2 overall grade point average and a minimum 3.0 grade point average in accounting Experience: The internship program is open to university/college junior and senior students with a declared major in accounting and graduate students in Masters of Accounting or Masters of Business Administration programs. Other Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to communicate well verbally and in writing with various levels of the organization. Ability to follow up on pending issues, take initiative and solve problems Proficiency with MS Excel and Word Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and progressive environment Willingness to learn and develop new skills WORK ENVIRONMENT/OTHER INFORMATION (Travel required, physical requirements, on-call schedules, etc.) Sitting for long periods of time is necessary Work in clean, pleasant, and comfortable office setting Please Note: TriNet reserves the right to change or modify job duties and assignments at any time.
