WHAT YOU'LL DO

As the FX Manager, you will play a central role in shaping the visual identity of our games by providing leadership and guidance to the VFX team. Collaboration with artists, designers, and engineers will be vital to delivering captivating visual effects that elevate gameplay and immersion. Effective communication and management skills will be essential to ensure the successful execution of our projects.

• Collaborate with the Art Director, Principal VFX Artist, and producers to oversee the VFX team, cultivating a collaborative and innovative work atmosphere.
• Partner with the production team to establish and manage team schedules while ensuring efficient workflow within the VFX department.
• Work closely with the Art Director and Principal VFX Artist to conceptualize and implement the artistic vision for VFX in our games.
• Develop career advancement paths for artists and conduct team performance evaluations.
• Formulate and manage action plans for the team's success, incorporating training and staffing strategies.
• Conduct regular performance assessments and feedback sessions to uphold and enhance the quality of VFX within the game.
• Act as a liaison between the VFX team and other departments, facilitating transparent communication and cross-departmental collaboration.
• Present ongoing VFX progress and updates to stakeholders and senior management.

Qualifications

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• A minimum of 3 years of managerial experience in PC, console, or mobile game development.
• Demonstrated proficiency in leading a team of artists within a dynamically evolving game production environment.
• Exceptional comprehension, communication, and organizational skills.
• Proven track record in managing various personnel matters, including career development and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated ability to function as a cohesive team member and contribute to enhancing productivity and efficiency objectives.
• Capability to establish consensus on overarching goals and allocate resources in alignment with project objectives and individual capabilities.
• Highly developed interpersonal communication skills, diplomacy, and tact.
• A plus: Previous experience in video game development, especially in the realm of VFX.

The San Francisco base salary range for this full-time position is $121,600 - $152,000. The base pay offered may vary based on a candidate’s geographic region, qualifications, skills and experience among other factors. Compensation details reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, stock options, or benefits.
