  • Responsibilities
    • SUMMARY:
    • Responsible for providing team motivation and assistance in recovery efforts on charged-off accounts through identification of accounts for repossession, locating assets, assigning accounts out for repossession, reinstatement and deficiency settlements.  The Recovery Team Lead has frequent contact with the recovery team, borrowers, outside agencies and various other departments within the company.
    • ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned
    •  Coaches and trains existing and new employees
    • Works with CO BuyBack Accounts
    • Communicates with Attorneys on buy back accounts
    • Submits waivers in ANS 
    • Handles all calls related to collateral recovery issues with adherence to all FDCPA laws.
    •  Properly document all account activity in the computer system.
    •  Resolve the account either through repayment of the balance or repossession of the collateral
    •  Make outbound calls to establish contact with borrowers for purposes of negotiating repayment of charged off balance.
    •  Initiate repossession of collateral when located if the value of the unit warrants recovery.
    •  Provide agents with all the pertinent information to effectively recover the assigned collateral.
    •  Initiate contact with customers or agencies in an effort to negotiate payments or to satisfy any deficiency balances.
    •  Responsible for referring appropriate accounts to the Legal Department for small claims and garnishment filings upon approval from upper management.
    •  Extensive skip tracing to locate borrowers and collateral.
    •  May assist in other related departments and perform other duties as required by business need.
    • Meet or exceed production goals as directed by the Recovery Manager
    • QUALIFICATIONS:
    • To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required. 
    •  Self motivated with strong decision making capabilities; ability to self start and work independently with minimal supervision.
    •  Ability to work in an accurate, detail-oriented and highly productive manner.
    •  Strong verbal/written communication skills and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task and react quickly in a fast paced environment.
    •  Experienced in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel.
    •  Effective communication, problem solving, interpersonal and teamwork skills are essential.
    • REQUIREMENTS:
    •  High School diploma or equivalent.
    • Team Lead experience 
    •  5-7 years of successful and stable collections experience, preferably auto finance recovery experience.
    •  Knowledge of collection policies/procedures including skip tracing and the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA).
    •  Must possess strong negotiation, problem solving, and probing skills that are utilized in a professional manner
    •  Assertive, clear and concise written/oral communication skills
    •  Self Motivated and dependable
    • Ability to thrive and be motivated by a fast-paced team environment.
