  • Responsibilities

    This position will be responsible to help deliver a holistic analytical understanding of portfolio performance for our $80Bn Cards portfolio at a level of granularity commensurate with the complexity of our business. A solid understanding of Risk & Return performance at this level of granularity is key to making good decisions that drive the business forward and to proactively address opportunities and / or risks.

    In addition to delivering accurate and timely insights about absolute portfolio performance, this role will also

    • Maintain an updated view of how our portfolio compares to the industry and peers
    • Analyze and develop a view of the impact of macroeconomic factors & changing consumer behavior on portfolio performance
    • Define and deliver early warning signals that either signal upcoming performance deterioration or react quickly to observed changes in pattern; this aspect is magnified when we consider the many types of factors that are appropriate to all our strategy areas e.g. risk rates, revolve rates, payment rates, Over limit rates, payment return rates, attrition rates, Collections effectiveness, regulatory impacts, Customer NPS values, etc.
    • Be able to observe broader trends in the portfolio based on a holistic view of performance factors that may not be visible to individual teams (due to their focus on certain product / strategy segments)
  • Qualifications
    • Bachelors degree required in statistics, mathematics, engineering, physics, economics, or related quantitative discipline
    • 3+ years experience in financial, economics or other analytical capacity (or 1+ years experience with Master’s Degree or PhD)
    • Proficient with SAS/SQL or experience with data manipulation tools; knowledge of Essbase or Oracle Smartview
    • Proficient with MS Office suite
    • Ability to work independently with baseline instructions/guidelines from management
    • Ability to multi-task and work against tight deadlines
    • Extremely detail-oriented; intellectual curiosity
    • Excellent quantitative and analytic skills; ability to derive patterns, trends and insights, and perform risk/reward trade-off analysis
    • Good written and verbal communication skills, with ability to connect analytics to business decisions; comfortable presenting to peers and management
    • Understanding of basic P&Ls of Cards business
