How will you make an impact in this role?
Global Commercial Services is a core operating group within American Express and has delivered robust growth over the past decade. GCS serves small, medium, and large business clients and helps them manage their cash flows and increase their profitability through a variety of products.
The Vice President role is within the Global Commercial Services Credit Risk Management team reporting into the VP of Commercial Customer & Limit Management. The selected candidate will lead a team of experienced risk professionals responsible for managing Collections for all US Commercial portfolios - SBS, BLOC and Corp including High Balance Collections.
Key Responsibilities
• Drive excellence in core Collections controls, capabilities and strategies across all Commercial portfolios, building consistency across customer, obligor and x-product
• Enhance the High Balance(HB) Collections framework, driving cross-functional and cross-strategy alignment and ensuring that HB strategies are proactive and dynamic
• Manage and drive innovation in collections strategies given the charge and lend convergence and changes in the collections composition
• Leverage obligor level internal & external data to effectively manage exposure
• Closely collaborate with key partners and stakeholders to drive the next level of collections strategies with new tools and capabilities in the horizon
• Ensure operational excellence and compliance with regulatory, audit and oversight requirements
• Continuously monitor portfolio performance and effectively partner with credit servicing, decision science and other teams to enhance the credit controls as needed
• Lead, engage, and inspire a team of high performing risk management professionals
Qualifications
• Seasoned risk management professional with experience in managing credit risk of commercial portfolios
• Strong leadership traits including ability to: define a compelling vision & strategy, communicate with clarity, motivate, and guide experienced risk professionals, collaborate with multiple stakeholders at various band levels, make quick and effective decisions and deliver large scale complex projects
• Ability to provide structure in ambiguity, excel in a dynamic and complex environment, and deliver under tight deadlines.
• Logical and analytical thinking, intellectual curiosity, and an innovative approach to solving business problems
• Ability to get into details, and yet be able to step back to take decisions with a long-term enterprise view and customer-first mindset.
• Growth mindset with the ability to embrace challenges, take risks and learn from mistakes
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or a related field with 5 or more years of experience in credit risk management. Advanced degree in a quantitative field and/or MBA with analytical experience preferred
Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions
Salary Range: $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
