  • Responsibilities

    JOB DESCRIPTION: The Graduate Assistant provides support to faculty in the Department of Social Sciences and works directly with specified faculty and students enrolled in Social Science courses. Job duties of the Graduate Assistant include, but are not limited to:

    • Assist faculty with maintenance of student files, rosters, and assignments
    • Type, compose and proofread correspondence, reports, schedules, or other materials
    • Assist faculty with the execution of student communications
    • Work in student information systems and databases for student file maintenance
    • Assist students with general questions
    • Maintain confidentiality of student records according to FERPA
    • Perform other related duties as assigned

     

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including advanced knowledge of Excel and Word
    2. Accurate demonstration of English spelling, punctuation and grammar
    3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills using a variety of communication channels (i.e., telephone, email, social media and in-person)
    4. Willingness to take initiative
    5. Ability to adhere to strict standards of confidentiality
    6. Ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time

      

     

       PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    1. Basic understanding of Blackboard
    2. Experience with Adobe Acrobat

     

    SALARYRANGE: $10.50/ hr.

  • Qualifications

    TECHNICAL OR ADMINISTRATIVE KNOWLEDGE:

    • Highly proficient with Microsoft software
    • Advanced Excel skills required
    • Knowledge of financial instruments and fixed income assets (including bank debt, mezzanine, unitranche facilities) is desirable
    • Working knowledge of accounting systems is desirable (Investran, VPM)
    • Familiarity with closed ended alternative investment funds and private equity structures is desirable

     

    SPECIAL SKILLS AND/OR ABILITIES:

    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent attention to detail
    • Ensuring effective communication with the Fund Accounting Manager/VP of Fund Accounting regarding escalation of issues or potential issues
    • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines without constant supervision
    • Exercises independent judgment and multi-task oriented
    • Takes initiative and ownership of job responsibilities
    • Must be able to perform essential job duties accurately and timely
    • Must adhere to deadlines and targets given
    • Fluent in English, French and/or German are assets
