    Job Description

    Visa is seeking an in-house marketing attorney to join the Visa Legal team that supports the Visa Marketing and Sponsorships teams. The position will report to a Vice President, Visa Legal – Marketing.

    This role includes providing advice on U.S. marketing, advertising, offers, promotions, and sponsorships, with an emphasis on drafting and negotiating marketing-related supplier agreements (e.g., agencies, vendors and consultants), drafting and negotiating sponsorship agreements, reviewing marketing and sponsorship communications and creative, and advising on promotional offers, contests and sweepstakes. The candidate should be knowledgeable on applicable legal and regulatory concerns, including marketing and promotions law, privacy, and licensing. An ideal candidate will also have in-house experience partnering with marketing teams, external agencies, and sponsorship partners, and reviewing marketing executions on the fly to meet short deadlines. This position requires a business savvy team player who is collaborative with marketing and legal colleagues and can work with minimal supervision in a fast-moving environment.

    This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

    _ Basic Qualifications_

    • 8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
    • 8 years of relevant marketing legal work experience
    • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
    • Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.
    • Prior experience in contract negotiation and drafting required

    Preferred Qualifications

    • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD
    • 8 years of relevant marketing legal work experience
    • Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
    • Current member in good standing of a State Bar with the ability to become barred or a registered in-house counsel in the state where this role is located.
    • Prior experience in contract negotiation and drafting required
    • Prior in-house experience, particularly working together with marketing teams and external agencies
    • Must possess exceptional analytical ability and advocacy skills, drive execution in a team environment, and the ability to integrate legal advice and business knowledge, while providing balanced advice regarding risks and benefits
    • Strong legal drafting skills, including drafting/negotiating of marketing supplier contracts and sponsorship contracts
    • Effective verbal and written communication skills in all interactions with marketing clients, senior management, legal colleagues, external counsel, corporate departments and all levels of employees
    • Practical and proactive problem-solver with a strong business acumen, must be confident, mature and calm under fire
    • Must be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
    • Ability and willingness to take initiative to address problems and make continuous process improvements.
    • Strong organizational skills, prior project management experience is a plus
    • Sense of humor and commitment to professionalism

    Additional Information

    ** Work Hours:** Varies upon the needs of the department.

    ** Travel Requirements:** This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

    ** Mental/Physical Requirements:** This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

    U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 182,300.00 to 237,000.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
