    Job description

Upon resumption of normal operations, this role may be performed at our Buffalo, New York office.

    As our WPB KYC Operations FATCA Analyst you’ll be the go-to analyst for FATCA inquiries. You’ll be responsible for performing tax reviews, validations, processing and maintaining of all Tax (W-8 Series and W-9) forms for all clients. You will maintain proper FATCA classified in all source systems using the Global tax validation tool for all new and existing clients including all day-to-day as well responsibilities associated with the maintenance of all KYC data. Every day, you’ll maintain ongoing communication with US OPS TAX for tax updates, address questions and remediate issues and actively assist on all FATCA related procedures. You will monitor the client on-boarding process to ensure that valid tax documents are received, validated and applied to all products and source systems. To thrive in this job, you’ll need knowledge of private banking products, markets and traditional and non-traditional service providers.

    Requirements

    Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions

    Here’s what you might expect on a typical day:

    • Review, Validation and Processing of all Tax (W-8 Series and W-9) forms ensuring clients are FATCA classified in all source systems using the Global tax validation tool
    • Maintain ongoing communication with US OPS TAX for tax updates, questions and remediation of issues and actively assist on all FATCA related procedures.
    • Monitor the client on-boarding process to ensure that valid tax documents are received, validated and applied to all products and source systems.
    • Perform Tax validation tool testing of FATCA regulations and participate in related system modifications as it relates to Tax reporting.
    • Perform US Tax withholding and US Tax reporting for both domestic and foreign clients. Respond to IRS B-Notices.
    • Complete various mass mailing initiatives such as W-8 mass mailings, Disregarded entities and partnerships.
    • Review documentation for new accounts for all structures, according to Bank’s policies and procedures.
    • Identify any inconsistencies/gaps in client information and identify U.S. indicia. Request additional information to resolve issues to cure U.S. indicia and review accounts for Internal Quality Assurance.
    • Enhanced review of accounts to ensure all are FATCA compliant.
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
