    SUMMARY:

     

    Are you passionate about science education and making a difference in inspiring tomorrow’s scientists, science teachers, and the public? BioInteractive is seeking a Biologist and Educational Media Developer to join a highly collaborative and creative team of scientists, educators, animators and programmers committed to transforming the teaching of biology in high school and undergraduate classrooms.

     

    BioInteractive is a program of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and a recognized leader in providing outstanding resources and professional development to educators. Our work is designed to promote student-centered learning, engagement with the scientific process, and planet stewardship.

     

    The ideal candidate for this position will have experience teaching biology and developing classroom activities and assessments.     PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

     

    • Working in collaboration with other team members, identify important concepts in high school and college-level introductory biology to develop a variety of resources, from online interactives and short films to instructor guides and hands-on activities.
    • Author original resources, and review and revise resources developed by team members or contractors.
    • Organize BioInteractive resources into learning sequences or units for implementation by educators.
    • Plan and execute strategies aimed at increasing awareness and use of BioInteractive resources among our audiences.
    • Participate in outreach activities, including facilitating faculty professional development, and in evaluation research studies.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE 

     

    • A Master’s or PhD in life science.
    • A minimum of two years of teaching experience, preferably teaching introductory biology at a 2- or 4-year institution.
    • Experience creating instructional materials and assessments for the classroom or an informal education setting.
    • Publications or presentations in science and/or science education.

    *Must pass a company physical, drug screen, alcohol screen, and criminal background check. *Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times. *Must maintain a current/valid driver's license with a clean driving record. *Will be required to meet Company Driver Qualifications Standards *Must be willing to travel and work away from home when required. *Must be willing to work various hours including overtime during days, nights and weekends when necessary. *Report to the assigned job site wearing adequate clothing for the work being performed with proper PPE and ready to begin work at the designated start time. *Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA. Protective equipment that may be required, but not limited to, for this position is: Face Shield, hard hat, safety glasses, and gloves. *Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures *Maintain reliable attendance, meeting company standards.
