Job Title: Data Analyst Intern Location: Reston, VA What does an Analytics Intern at comScore do? Data Analyst interns are responsible for extracting, transforming and analyzing worldwide digital analytics data in order to deliver strategic solutions to comScores Fortune 500 client base. Each month we collect approximately 2 trillion records across the digital landscape. Youll play a critical role in identifying patterns and trends within our data assets, which our clients use to understand their audiences and know if their advertising is working. You will work alongside analysts and managers to analyze big data, diagnose potential issues, design process improvements, and collaborate across different functional teams. Youll have a unique ability to combine your technical, quantitative and analytical skills that will elevate your career at comScore. What is your day-to-day involvement? Use SQL, advanced Excel functions (think lots of pivot tables!), and distributed computing technologies, to extract, transform and analyze online consumer behavior data from comScores corporate data warehouse. Interpret data and communicate key findings and recommendations to address business issues. Provide sales support including feasibility reviews, sample analyses and deliverables, and client data validations. Implement efficient and repeatable process for producing ad-hoc analyses, and contribute towards initiatives that improve the quality of our custom and syndicated products. Which core skills will prepare you for success? A major with strong quantitative focus such as Engineering (Systems, Computer), Math, Statistics, Economics, Computer Science, Info Technology, or Social Sciences (Psychology, Sociology). Classroom or professional experience that is analytical in nature, such as experience with syndicated data, or custom research. Experience in Internet marketing or in analyzing customer interactions on the web is a plus. Classroom or real world work experience with SQL (queries and any advanced functions, such as joins etc. are a bonus) and / or other relational databases, plus proven proficiency with numbers/statistics. Excellent communication skills, including both written and verbal. Experience in data analysis and problem solving with large amounts of data is highly preferred. Pro-active, independent thinker with high energy and positive attitude. Ability to interact effectively with peers in a team-oriented operating structure.
