    Job Description

    Ubisoft, a global leader in the video games and entertainment software industry, is seeking a full-time LEGAL COUNSEL. This role will act as both product and commercial counsel, providing legal support for Ubisoft’s international business teams on a worldwide level. This is a great opportunity to work on novel issues across a wide variety of products and projects in a fast-paced industry.  The Legal Counsel will be part of the Players’ Experience legal team dedicated to Players’ Experience and Direct to Players offers with other team members based in Paris.  This position is based in San Francisco, CA.

     

     

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

     

    • Provide strategic and practical advice and counsel to ecommerce, subscriptions, content marketing, customer relations, player journey, player safety, brand, and community development teams across the globe to drive, develop and ensure compliance with global and regional legal requirements and best practices
    • Review and validate, from concept to execution projects, promotions, offers, loyalty programs, accessibility features, campaigns, and other strategic initiatives for compliance with applicable consumer laws, authorities’ regulations and guidance, and best practices
    • Review, advise on and draft terms of use, disclaimers, FAQs, and a wide range of consumer-facing offers
    • Respond to law enforcement requests and customer escalations
    • Actively participate in cross-functional projects and campaign development to provide pragmatic counseling
    • Create and deliver marketing /advertising, monetization, accessibility and other relevant law and compliance training for business and legal teams worldwide
    • Stay apprised of developments in legal and regulatory developments affecting ecommerce, marketing, promotions and more generally the way we deliver the best players’ experience possible
    • Assist with litigation, disputes and regulatory investigations that may arise

    WHAT YOU'LL BRING

     

    • Relevant in-house and/or law firm experience working on direct-to-consumer issues
    • Strong experience with product counseling or marketing in the B2C space
    • Knowledge of and experience applying regulations and industry guidelines (including consumer protection and auto-renewal laws, FTC, CAN-SPAM, ADA, TCPA) and advising on advertising methods, including offers, sweepstakes and price promotions, claims, press releases and other press activities
    • Law degree from a reputable law school, and Bar admission in good standing in California
    • Excellent business judgment, strategic thinking, creativity, and adaptability
    • Enjoys working across functions and providing leadership
    • Highly motivated and independent, but also a strong team player
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, a relationship builder; a great sense of humor
    • Exceptional written and oral communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex issues and concepts in straightforward, laymen terms
    • Attention to detail, high quality work product and the ability to prioritize and efficiently manage multiple matters
    • Experience working internationally
    • French, Spanish and/or Brazilian Portuguese fluency a big plus.
