  • Responsibilities

    The Nasdaq Futures Internship Program provides successful candidates with a unique opportunity to experience a challenging and immersive 10-week internship. As participants in the Nasdaq Futures Internship Program, you will deliver real, impactful work within a business unit. You will work on a defined project and partner with a mentor, network with senior colleagues and present your project at the end of the program. You will also participate in learning & development opportunities as well as “lunch and learn” sessions with senior leaders.

    This Nasdaq Internship runs for 10 weeks commencing from June to August. Upon completion of this internship, outstanding interns will be evaluated for full-time opportunities with NASDAQ post-graduation.

    Objectives of this Role

    Our Team

    The Regulatory Technology team is dedicated to using technology for regulatory purposes with a goal to achieve high levels of regulatory compliance and integrity across our regulatory systems, including our trading and surveillance systems.

    Project Overview

    The intern will work with other members of the Regulatory Technology team to identify improvements to our surveillance programs.

    Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

    Your Role

    The intern will analyze existing surveillance pattern(s), review the legal basis, requirements, and code to gain a thorough understanding of the current implementation. From there, the intern will apply a data science perspective to identify gaps or areas of improvement in the current pattern(s). The end result will be recommendations for modifications to improve the surveillance pattern(s).

    • Applies and integrates statistical, mathematical, predictive modeling and business analysis skills to manage and manipulate complex high volume data from a variety of sources
    • Analyzes large quantities of data and presents insights and predictions. Works with senior team members to present the insights in line with surveillance and regulatory compliance applications.
    • Identifies unique opportunities to collect new data
    • Generates algorithms and creates computer models for the purpose of identifying anomalies in trading behavior
    • Collaborates with database engineers and other scientists
  • Qualifications
    • Is working on completing a degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Math/Statistics (must be graduating by June 2022)
    • Knowledge and experience in using Python, Scala, SQL, and R
    • Has good communication skills - strong command of the English language
    • Highly analytical and critical thinking
    • Can work on large data sets
