  • Responsibilities

    We are hiring a Continuous Improvement Intern to learn from a mentor and gain valuable real-world experience in issues that impact Ingredion’s business processes by learning. In this role, you will support Lean Six Sigma (LSS) methodologies, as well as facilitating a culture of Lean thinking. You will collaborate with LSS Practitioners and Continuous Improvement teams to understand and build interpersonal strengths.

    As a Continuous Improvement Intern, your responsibilities would include:

    • Supporting the facilitation of project selection workshop and assisting and/or leading a CI project
    • Leading and updating plant CI internal site, including the development of standard site templates and instructions for site processes
    • Working with internal resources on the development and consolidation of the Lean Six Sigma toolkit database for the sites
    • Participating in root cause analysis that utilizes team problem-solving approach to resolve issues identified in design or manufacturing, and supports execution of corrective actions
    • Leading small Kaizen events, workshops, and process improvement teams to help us implement improvements quickly
    • Utilizing data analysis tools to identify improvement opportunities in different areas
    • Collaborating across business and functional units in the region to ensure alignment of an improvement initiative
    • Working as part of a technical group in a multi-cultural and diverse work environment to accomplish a common goal and assisting with idea generation workshops with operators and management
  • Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree program in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Food Science or related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 preferred.
    • Bachelor’s degree programs in Business Administration or related degrees will be considered if the student can show a strong and rigorous statistical and mathematical background.
    • Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term.
    • PC skills with word processing, database, presentation, and strong spreadsheet experience
    • Validated analytical problem-solving skills and developed multi-tasking and time management skills
    • A consistent track record of leadership and strong work ethic with precision and accuracy of work
