JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

This job contributes to Starbucks success by creating an accurate demand plan to support customer service targets while balancing the fiscal responsibility of inventory in the supply chain. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

• Develop statistical model, using a demand planning tool, based on order history.
• Create accurate demand plans to support promotions, new products introductions, phase outs and supply chain replenishment strategies, using demand planning tool parameters and functionality.
• Creation and usage of demand models based on the type of demand for products and businesses
• Compare demand plans to business and financial plans to determine gaps. Recommend supply chain execution to support the risks and opportunities of these gaps in the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process.
• Understand, facilitate and champion S&OP process within the enterprise.
• Reports forecast accuracy, determine root causes for inaccurate demand plans, recommend and execute plans to increase demand plan accuracy.
• In absence of sales input, provide a demand plan to support supply chain planning requirements.
• Use sales, marketing information, sometimes confidential to drive demand plans
• Working knowledge of project management skills in a planning function to create project plans with interdependencies
• Lead cross-functional process improvements to support increasing customer service levels
• Creation of a consensus plan reflecting supply constraints, financial targets
• Adjust consensus plans to consider consumption of forecasts, backlog and supply constraints.
• Use of external data to Starbucks, such as economic and weather indicators, to adjust demand plans
• Create long term forecast (beyond 3 years) for commodities to support supply chain cost management

SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

• Experience in supply and demand planning
• Preferred BA/BS degree, APICS certification and knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and/or other Supply Chain Planning or Continuous Improvement methodologies

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to Influence category, marketing and supply partners to obtain a consensus forecast to best support customer service targets
• Ability to drives for closure on issues that prevent supply meeting demand
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing to internal customers
• Communicates changes in demand plans to the supply chain quickly and effectively.
• Ability to use presentation skills to pass information and to gain consensus of forecasts
• Ability to mentor and support demand planners in resolving issues in the organization
