    We are seeking an ambitious college student to hire as Process Technology Intern for summer 2022! As our Intern, we will have you support progression of a well-defined research project related to food ingredient processing/starch extraction. As an Intern, you will evaluate a sequence of unit operations, optimization of process parameters and scale-up of new processes in our Ingredion Bridgewater pilot plant.

    Your work will include running pilot plant and lab trials, interpretation and analysis of process and analytical data, defining scale-up conditions / requirements and producing pilot quantities of the final product for internal evaluations.     As the Process Technology Intern, your responsibilities will include:

    • Operating laboratory equipment safely and with little direct supervision from our team to support project needs; This may require modification of standard operating procedures
    • Maintaining a clean, safe work environment; following guidelines set-out for good housekeeping, GMPs, and safety
    • If needed, conducting searches on prior art (literature, patents), and current technology including competitive activity on related projects. Summarize the outcomes in appropriate report
    • Presenting project status, updates, and outcomes to team and key partners
    • Working well with others in pilot plant and laboratory, effectively communicating with colleagues and key project teams
    • Organizing, summarizing and reporting data generated from these experiments
    • Performing lab/pilot plant experiments, conduct data analysis and interpret results to make recommendations to project team and support the project
    • Recording data in the Electronic Lab Notebook (ELN) and other archiving databases as appropriate. Effectively communicate results to project teams and partners and writing a detailed report on complete report
    • At completion of internship period, presenting research findings to management with recommendations for future New Product Development or Applied Research projects

    Qualified candidates will need to have:

    • Progress towards a Bachelor's Degree with a focus in Chemical Engineering or related field with lab and/or pilot plant skills preferred
    • Experience with performing experiment in lab and/or pilot plant individually and/or as part of a team
    • The ability to carry out experimental work independently with minimal supervision
    • The ability to work safely in our lab and pilot plant environment
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written technical communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports
    • Working knowledge of basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
    • Reliable transportation required to get to and from facility each work day

    • Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
