JOB SUMMARY
End to end management of projects related to Bakery and Core Food. This includes new complex pkg development, cost savings and sustainability initiatives. Will require strong technical knowledge, organizational skills and personal drive.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:
Own packaging strategy and successful launch of Core food and Bakery categories.
Successfully manage 4-6 complex projects plus 1-2 smaller projects simultaneously with minimal guidance to meet deliverables on time.
Clear, concise and proactive communication of engineering expectations, developments, timing and next steps to suppliers, T1’s and working team
Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional teams and suppliers
Design, implement and validate line trials/tooling qualifications across multiple pkg formats and suppliers
Technically sound in engineering recommendations and seen as a strategic influencer and thought leader
Can hit the ground running with minimal guidance and support. Operates independently and successfully able to navigate ambiguous environments
Improve efficiency, optimize cost and packaging performance through packaging designs and systems.
Strong working knowledge in flexible barrier materials, ridged plastics, paperboard, corrugated, CAP/MAP, VFFS & HFFS equipment, automatic cartooning, case packing, and overall plant operations.
Develop and implement comprehensive test plans (transit, compression, vibration tests, etc.) to ensure packaging performance and product/package quality
Understands application of AQL or similar to testing and statistical sampling. Can write packaging quality specifications including defect definitions and sampling / test plans.
Applies logic in packaging related problems and analysis of alternatives to assess the financial and operational impact of business initiatives.
SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE
BS in Packaging Engineering or commensurate experience
3-6 years of experience with consumer product packaging materials & systems
At least 1 internship in packaging engineering role
Strong working knowledge of food packaging and processes
Proficient with palletizing software such as TOPS/CAPE
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Solid working knowledge of packaging materials, package/product systems, packaging equipment, and packaging performance testing protocols
Self-manage projects and deadlines, strong organizational skills
Problem solver, quick study, self-starter and able to adapt to change
Take direction but can also make decisions independently
Manage 4-6 tasks simultaneously
The desire to drive completion of tasks in a thorough detailed manner
Strong communicator and possess the ability to present to upper management and key stake holders throughout the organization (orally and in writing)
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Teams), TOPS, Outlook
Strong understanding of consumer goods packaging
