    We have an exciting opportunity for a graduate student to join our R&D team for a 2024 summer internship! As the Sweetener Research Intern, within the Ingredient Science Group, you will support research projects related to discovery of sweetener technologies. The project would involve utilization of computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software for the visualization and computational modeling of ligand-protein interactions.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    • Independently planning and running relevant calculations and simulations within software (on-the-job training of software will be provided)
    • Creating visual representations of ligand-protein interactions
    • Application of modeling techniques, e.g. docking and electrostatic complementarity scores, for data collection and analysis
    • Documenting all stages of R&D work in relevant knowledge management and archiving databases, as required
    • Effectively summarizing and communicating results, findings, and project status updates to the team and key partners/stakeholders
    • Working in a safe manner in all aspects of the work environment, such as laboratory and office settings.
    • Presenting research findings at the completion of internship period

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • Familiarity with commercial computational chemistry tools and CADD software
    • Successful progress towards a graduate degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Physics, or related field with research experience in computational modeling
    • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical reports

    • Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Ingredion does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT.
    • Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program. If currently enrolled in an undergraduate status, must have completed at least three years of coursework with status as a junior, senior or non-graduating senior.
