  • Responsibilities

    Ingredion is looking for a Technical Sales intern who will work directly with our Inside Sales (Solution Gurus) team. In this role, you will work cross functionally with our sales, business development, marketing and technical services groups to address customer inquiries, primarily with emerging and small-to-medium sized companies within the food and beverage industry. In addition, this role will be responsible for gathering and analyzing customer activity data to identify insights and emerging trends in the market. This internship is ideal for Food Science majors who are interested in a potential sales/business development track.

    As the Technical Sales Intern, your responsibilities will include:

    • Field calls from the technical hotline, chat and website and respond to inquiries from customers as needed
    • Develop an understanding of technical sales and how to take a consultative approach to solve technical challenges for our customers
    • Complete an assigned capstone project that will combine aspects of sales strategy and process to be presented internally to the management team
    • Maintain/update customer information within CRM software (Salesforce.com) to ensure data integrity
    • Organize, analyze and report on incoming customer data and findings. Make presentations to convey information internally.
    • Develop and maintain an understanding of Ingredion’s product portfolio in order to provide valuable information to the customer

  • Qualifications

    Qualified candidates will have:

    • Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree program in Food Science or a related field with a minimum GPA of at least 3.0/4.0 Preferred
    • Ability to work 40hrs per week during the summer internship term
    • Ability to work safely in an office environment.
    • Excellent social, verbal and written communication skills, e.g. technical reports for distribution, presentations, data analysis etc.
    • An aptitude for technical sales and a desire to pursue a technical sales/business development career
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

    To be eligible for consideration, candidates must:

    • Currently possess unrestricted authorization to work in the United States. Ingredion does not intend to sponsor work visas with respect to this position or to provide this position as OPT or CPT.
    • Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
