    JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION 

     

    This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing construction support to ensure new stores and renovations are completed in accordance with Starbucks requirements. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

     

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

     

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

    • Supports store development and operations; may participate and contribute to planning and strategy meetings for the market by providing information and input.                                                                                                                            
    • Assists with planning and managing construction processes and practices to ensure that programs are aligned with company business goals and objectives.
    • Works with store development team to track project status and reports out during team calls, as well as with the operations team.
    • Creates and maintains project files.                                                                                                                                                
    • Updates and maintains store related information in various databases.
    • Collects vendor quotes and processes purchase and warehouse orders. Places and tracks orders on a per store basis.                                                                                                                                                                                                
    • Communicates and distributes project related information to vendors and internal partners.
    • Generates general contractor paperwork. Compiles and assembles the general contractor contract package. Tracks, generates and ensures general contractor payments.
    • Resolves problems with back orders, items not received, defective and damaged goods. Initiates and reports on damage and/or defective claims with warehouses and outside suppliers and vendors. 
    • Coordinates and resolves shipping issues within internal and external transportation departments. 
    • Communicates supplier issues to buyers.
    • Assists in the resolution of issues raised by internal and external partners during the construction and post construction period
    • Receives and processes invoices through Accounts Payable. 
    • Reviews the lease and obtains landlord approval as needed for renovation projects.
    • Assists in compiling store reconciliation documents for project manager.
    • Maintains and reconciles asset registers for each project.
    • Assists with collecting and providing lease required documents in order to collect Tenant Improvement Allowance. Post collection follow up and tracking of TIA.
    • Manages LEED documentation                                                                                                                                                      
    • Facilitates close out of project paperwork, receipt of any Tenant Allowance within target timelines 
    • Creates capital reinvestment models and other construction tools  for projects within the supported area (s)                               
    • Reads and interprets construction documents to ensure correct quantities are ordered, scope for their immediate area of impact is appropriate, and warehouse and contracts align with budgets.
  • Qualifications

    SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE      

    • Knowledge of development process lifecycle 
    • Construction in restaurant or retail environment
    • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings                                                                                                                       
    • Fundamental commercial acumen relating to scope, related project costs and programs                                                     
    • Negotiation skills and ability to influence without authority

     

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

    • High School diploma or GED or 4 + years of US military experience
      • Preferred: Bachelor's degree in facility or construction management, architecture, or business related field
    • 3+ years project administration, including tracking
    • 5 years order management: progressive experience in managing orders through complete order life cycle.
    • 3 years’ experience in the construction or facilities industry
    • 3+ years’ experience using project or construction management software (MS Project, Tririga, Primavera, Project Mates etc.)
    • 3+ years vendor/supplier management

      • Familiarity with construction terms, concepts, drawings and documents

      • Support annual planning and store tours

      • LEED Documentation
      • FAR Updates
    • FUNDAMENTAL STORE DEVELOPMENT KNOWLEDGE:
      • Basic understanding of store development role in Starbucks’ success
