JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

This position contributes to Starbucks success by building enterprise data services for analytic solutions. This position is responsible for design, development, testing and support of data pipelines enabling continuous data processing for data exploration, data preparation and real-time business analytics.

Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following: 

• Demonstrates knowledge of the data engineering domain with experience in building and supporting non-interactive (batch, distributed) or real-time, highly available data, data pipelines.
• Able to build fault tolerant, self-healing, adaptive computational pipelines
• Contribute to the decision-making process related to the selection of software solutions that make up the architecture
• Contribute to the implementation of complex programs
• Reference and leverage subject matter experts to assist in problem solving and issue resolution.  
• Develop and maintain documentation related to all assigned systems and projects
• Write queries and functions running over billion of rows of data running in a distributed query engine
• Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process requirements
• Learn new concepts and or technologies that are required to perform work and contribute towards improvements of the team's existing frameworks processes, standards and tools

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS 

• Bachelor’s  degree in computer science, management information systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience
• We are looking for strong hands on knowledge (more than 6/10) in the following:
• Proficient in Spark technology
• Hands on data pipeline development, ingest patterns
• Working knowledge of NoSQL database technologies
• Working knowledge of Datawarehouse concepts
• Understanding of Distributed database systems
• Proficient in Python   
• Proficient in SQL

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE 

• SQL Platform (2 - 3 years)                                                                                                                           
• No-SQL Platform (2 -3 years)                                                                                                                      
• Spark (2 - 3 years)                                                                                                                                     
• Data platform implementation on Azure or AWS (2 - 3 years)                                                                         
• CI/CD experience  (1 + years)                                                                                                                    
• Exposure to SOA architecture (1 + years)
