    IN THIS ROLE, AS A DECISION SCIENTIST IN OPERATIONS, YOU WILL WORK WITH BUSINESS AND TECHNOLOGY TEAMS TO BUILD NEW WAYS OF DETECTING POTENTIAL INTERNAL FRAUD THROUGH DATA. YOU WILL LEARN HOW FRAUD LOOKS IN STARBUCKS DATA AND BUILD ALGORITHMS TO SURFACE THESE ANOMALIES FOR FRAUD INVESTIGATORS TO REVIEW. YOUR RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE TO BUILD, TEST, MEASURE PERFORMANCE AND ITERATE ON DATA MODELS TO CONTINUALLY INCREASE THE VALUE OF POTENTIAL FRAUD LEADS.

     

    As a decision scientist, you will…

     

    • BUILDING DATA MODELS TO UNCOVER NEW TYPES OF FRAUD
    • ANALYZE EFFECTIVENESS OF FRAUD RULES AND ALGORITHMS TO MANAGE PERFORMANCE OF MODELS
    • WORK WITH FRAUD INVESTIGATORS AND LEADERSHIP TO UNDERSTAND BUSINESS NEEDS AND TURN THEM INTO ACTIONABLE ANALYTICS
  • Qualifications

    We’d love to hear from people with:

    • A PASSION FOR MAKING DATA DRIVEN DECISIONS AND PROVIDING SYSTEMATIC, SCALABLE SOLUTIONS
    • AN INTEREST IN WORKING WITH THE BUSINESS SIDE OF OPERATIONS WHILE BUILDING CLOSE COLLABORATION WITH TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS
    • MOTIVATION TO WORK INDEPENDENTLY AS WELL AS COLLABORATIVELY WITH MULTIPLE TEAMS

    Basic Qualifications:

    • BA/BS with discipline in Stats, Math, Comp Sci, Engineering, Ecom, Psychology, Quantitative Social Science or similar
    • 1+ years’ experience in specific field or utilizing designated skills:
      • Ability to handle, and maintain the confidentiality of, highly sensitive information.
      • Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint
      • Proficiency with SQL
      • Experience with SAS, Python or R, and Alteryx
      • Working knowledge of statistics (descriptive, regression, etc.)
      • Business experience with several data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
      • Retail, customer loyalty, or eCommerce experience preferred
