    JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

    This job contributes to Starbucks success by providing technical expertise in distribution or manufacturing operations within the warehouse, roasting plant or pilot plant. Troubleshoots problems with material handling systems or production equipment. Works with cross-functional teams to solve complex production or distribution problems and initiates technical changes. Organizes productivity improvement initiatives. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

     

    SUMMARY OF KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

    • Anticipates changes to customer business needs and recommends and implements technical strategies to meet them. Builds cross-functional support for technical initiatives. Communicates with internal and external contacts regarding plan details to enable successful delivery of assigned project objectives.
    • Develop procedures and reference materials in support of data-driven preventative maintenance (PM) activities.
    • Communicate with internal and external parties to ensure current and accurate support documentation on hand.
    • Partner with maintenance planner in support of plant-wide systems and assets CMMS management. 
    • Align with network CMMS in support of network maintenance 5-year plan.
    • Analyze data to identify areas of greatest opportunity based on OEE and equipment criticality.
    • Partner with customers and stakeholders to communicate PM scope and approach.
    • Identify equipment criticality to ensure proper PM frequency and scope.
    • Audit plant PM schedules, scope, Infor system/asset hierarchy, PM effectiveness, and documentation currency.
    • Serve as plant liaison during offsite activities related to network maintenance initiatives.
    • Coaches and leads production, maintenance, or distribution teams to become self-directed. Identifies means to remove obstacles and resolve issues to enhance team effectiveness. Builds support among partners for tactical initiatives. Trains partners to use new processes, systems and equipment.
    • Serves as a technical resource within the warehouse, production center, or pilot plant environment with respect to processes, systems and equipment. Troubleshoots problems. Make recommendations for effective utilization and deployment of equipment. Works with cross-functional partners to analyze and solve complex problems.
    • Organizes and executes initiatives to improve processes and productivity. Supports system installation projects.
    • Provide education, guidance, and mentorship to mechanics and operators in support of preventative maintenance procedures
    • Train partners on network changes and improvements to CMMS
    • Train and mentor maintenance partners on preventative maintenance inspections, parts replacement and troubleshooting
    • Partner with learning specialists to develop department-specific training modules for maintenance and operations
    • Liaison with OEMs and engineering to ensure documentation and procedures are current.
    • Develop training and reference material for individual assets using internal and external SMEs.  Identify and eliminate knowledge and skill gaps.
    • Communicate to partners and stakeholders regarding changes and upgrades to plant systems and assets
    • Serve as a technical resource within plant and network environments with respect to processes, systems and equipment.
    • Troubleshoots problems.
    • Identify continuous improvement opportunities and make recommendations for effective installation, maintenance, and utilization of equipment.        
    • Works with cross-functional partners to analyze and solve complex problems.
    • Organizes and executes initiatives to improve processes and productivity.
    • Supports system installation projects
    • Responsible for the management and/or implementation of food safety, legality and quality programs.
    • Develop procedures encompassing safety, food safety, quality, and legality programs.

    SUMMARY OF EXPERIENCE

    • Data analysis 3 years
    • Development of new equipment and process procedures 3 years
    • Manufacturing or distribution in a technical or operational role 3 years
    • Project management 3 years
    • System such as warehouse management 3 years
    • Food service industry
    • Technical writing

     

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Ability to provide technical leadership
    • Ability to analyze complex problems and make strategic recommendations for their resolution
    • Ability to assimilate new information
    • Creative problem-solving skills
    • Attention to detail
    • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to coach and mentor others
    • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (21 CFR 117) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with BRC or SQF certification schemes.
