    Job Summary and Mission

    This job contributes to Starbucks success by ensuring efficient and timely flow of samples and information through the product quality evaluation process. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

    Summary of Key Responsibilities

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

    • Assists technical manager in auditing, visiting and qualifying co-manufacturers and vendors. Oversees monthly plant audits and twice-yearly mock recalls.
    • Coordinates movement of samples through quality evaluation process and tracks lab responsibilities. Performs testing and analysis as necessary.
    • Ensures department needs are achieved by hiring, training and leading quality assurance technicians.
    • Maintains facility certifications and regulatory licenses. Provides documentation to auditors, applies for renewals, and participates in certification audits.
    • Oversees holds and releases of raw materials and finished product. Ensures that regular reports of product status, including raw material, blend and finished product, holds and corrective actions, are provided to Operations.
    • Oversees maintenance of Quality Assurance lab according to cleanliness standards. Ensures equipment is calibrated and in working order.
    • Works with co-packers and vendors to communicate and ensure compliance to Tazo technical requirements as outlined in technical manuals. Provides Operations team with reports on vendor performance.

    Summary of Experience

    • Laboratory (2 years)
    • Auditing raw materials and finished goods (1 year)
    • Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) application (1 year)
    • Hazard Assessment and Critical Control Points (HACCP) (1 year)

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
    • Strong attention to detail
    • Ability to lead and train others
    • Ability to negotiate
    • Ability to perform data entry
    • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access
    • Analytical, systems-thinking skills
