    JOB SUMMARY AND MISSION

     

    This job contributes to Starbucks success by serving as the primary point of contact for Supply Chain Operations (SCO) including Planning, Order Fulfillment, Logistics and overall customer support for our Latin America & Caribbean market business units (MBUs). Provides supply chain expertise and process support in the movement of retail supplies and equipment for licensee customers that facilitates international market growth and generate store and customer value. Models and acts in accordance with Starbucks guiding principles.

     

    Summary of Key Responsibilities

     

    Responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

    • Serves as the primary point of contact between international partners and Supply Chain Operations (SCO), Latin America Operations (LAC) and other various functional areas on product availability, distribution and transportation issues, order confirmation, shipment tracking, expediting and other aspects of the order fulfillment process. Acts as a consultant to international markets on best practices for order fulfillment.
    • Analyzes demand forecasts based on store development and retail supply plans, sales forecasts, demand history, seasonal trends, product range, market trends and promotions to ensure product availability for existing and new stores.
    • Collaborates with operations management, distribution, Market Business Unit (MBU), logistics provider and local supplier to resolve complex, internal and external issues ensuring efficient store order management for retail supplies and store development.
    • Develops and prepares cost and service key performance indicator (KPI) reports for key partners and customers. Collects, analyzes and summarizes performance information and trend data. Evaluates the performance of service providers, Starbucks internal operations and international partners. Uses Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to initiate cost reductions and service improvements.
    • Initiates and leads investigation and root cause analysis of perceived service gaps to evaluate and recommend improvements to processes in Regional Support Center (RSC), Starbucks Support Center (SSC) and MBU Supply Chain teams.
    • Manages distribution and transportation costs for new store equipment and supplies. Determines optimal mode of transport, considering cost and transit time requirements. Establishes and develops transportation provider relationships. Negotiates spot rate quotes, supports negotiated contract agreements and audits the freight payment process.
    • Monitors inventory target and reorder levels by working closely with MBU, ensuring that replenishment processes consistently result in timely and appropriate product volumes in MBU warehouses.
    • Provides education and tactical support to markets in all stages of market development including training and consultancy for: Forecasting, Order Capture, Transportation, Receiving, Receiving Variance Report, Inventory control, Promotions and supply chain models. Assesses financial and operational impact to Market Business Unit, implements process improvement and identifies opportunity for savings. Develops and implements tools to enable the market business unit to move into the next stage of market development.
    • Books international shipments. Coordinates with freight forwarders to resolve issues in accordance with established procedures. Manages the timely flow of shipping documentation. Ensures that all commercial shipping documentation is complete and accurate and meets the requirements of destination countries. Maintains shipment records in accordance with customs and tax requirements.

    Summary of Experience

    • Customer service - Support Market business unit orders and shipments (2 years)

    • Forecasting / Planning - Identify and resolve discrepancies between order and forecast using various forecasting techniques (2 years)

    • Order management - Manage order through complete order life cycle (2 years)

    • Transportation- Book shipments with freight forwarder to ensure timely delivery of products (2 years).

    • Spanish speaking/writing skills highly preferred.

    Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

    • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with a professional demeanor, both verbal and written (Spanish fluency preferred)

    • Strong analytical, quantitative skills for operational problem solving, performance reporting and financial analysis

    • Ability to influence and lead others

    • Ability to manage small to med sized projects

    • Knowledge of process development practices and documentation
