    As an undergraduate Technology intern, you will be stretched to build on your existing knowledge, challenged to maximize your learning agility, and positioned to make a meaningful and lasting contribution to your team. In this role, you may contribute to Starbucks’ success by building enterprise data services for analytic solutions. This position is responsible for design, development, testing and support for data pipelines to enable continuous data processing for data exploration, data preparation and real-time business analytics.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

    • Work with data engineering team to build and support non-interactive (batch, distributed) & real-time, highly available data, data pipeline and technology capabilities
    • Work with infrastructure provisioning & configuration tools to develop scripts to automate deployment of physical and virtual environments; to develop tools to monitor usage of virtual resources.
    • Participate in issue resolution.
    • Adopt the team coding standards and help improve such standards
    • Develop and maintain documentation relating to all assigned systems and projects
    • Perform root cause analysis to identify permanent resolutions to software or business process issues

     

     

    Starbucks Technology internships are paid, 10-week assignments at the Starbucks Support Center in Seattle, WA (our corporate headquarters). Each student selected for a Starbucks internship may be considered for full-time career openings upon completion of a Bachelor’s degree program.

    WE'D LOVE TO HEAR FROM STUDENTS WITH: 

    • Experience SQL Platform
    • Exposure No-SQL Platform is a plus
    • Hadoop, YARN, MapReduce, Pig or Hive, Spark
    • Data platform implementation on Azure or AWS is a plus
    • CI/CD experience
    • Exposure to SOA architecture is a plus
    • Ability to apply knowledge of multidisciplinary business principles and practices to achieve successful outcomes in cross-functional projects and activities
    • Effective communication skills, effective problem-solving skillset
    • Working knowledge of Java or Scala or C#, SQL, No-SQL Platforms is a plus, Hadoop, YARN, MapReduce, Pig or Hive, Spark, AWS, Azure CI/CD
    • Ability to debug, troubleshoot, performance tune using relevant tools
    • Exposure to shell scripting
    • Proficiency in logging and monitoring tools, patterns & implementations is a plus
    • Working knowledge of data visualization tools such as Tableau is a plus
    • Participation in agile and DevOps culture

     

    INTERNSHIP PROGRAM QUALIFICATIONS: 

    • Active enrollment in an accredited undergraduate Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, or equivalent program
    • Anticipated graduation with a Bachelor's degree between December 2019 and August 2020.
    • Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.0
