Social Caseworker IV - Child Protection Specialties Investigator Adams County Colorado 11 reviews - Westminster, CO $51,499 a year * Investigate reports of child abuse/neglect identified as egregious, fatal, near fatal, human trafficking, serious bodily injury, high profile/media, and/or other complex, specialized cases. The Specialties investigator is responsible for collaborating with other county caseworkers and supervisors, law enforcement, medical staff, victim advocates, state personnel, social workers, District Attorneys, and other involved professionals to determine the safety and well-being of a child/ren. When required, attends the State Child Fatality Review Team meeting and designated Internal Meetings specific to fatal, near fatal, and egregious incidents. * Investigates reports of child abuse/neglect in foster homes, daycare centers, daycare homes, group homes, detention facilities and residential childcare facilities. While conducting the investigation in the same manner as familial assessments, the institutional investigator is responsible for collaborating with other county caseworkers and supervisors, Division of Childcare staff, (at times) detectives, Child Placement Agency directors and case managers, biological parents, County DSS Directors and other involved professionals in order to determine whether the institution is not only "safe" but also appropriate for the involved children. * Provides intensive crisis intervention and assessment of families' needs, including domestic violence, substance abuse, child abuse and neglect, environmental conditions, and caretakers' capacity to parent. Develops individual case plans and reports. Maintains case records according to Federal, State, and County requirements. Writes court reports, attends legal hearings, testifies for department, consults with attorneys regarding legal aspects of cases. * Provides coverage for the 24- hour Referral/Response Court Liaison. * Assists in Screening process of referrals prior to Red Team determination. * Assists in training new hires/caseworkers in the 24-hour Referral/Response Section. * Adheres to the Adams County Cultural Norms and Values. * Performs related work as required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: * Knowledge of: * Colorado Children's Code * Colorado State Department of Social Services Manual, Volume VII * State Trails SACWIS System * Partnering for Safety Principles * Differential Response Model * RED teams * Forensic Interviewing skills and techniques * Experience/specialization in some or all the above-mentioned specialties * Skill to: * Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. * Assess and coordinate community resources. * Engage clients utilizing strength based, solution focused techniques/principles. * Ability to: * Represent department and County in a positive and professional manner. * Recognize and identify risk factors and dynamics of child abuse, child neglect, and family functioning and cultural issues. * Work independently. * Provide leadership to coworkers and make decisions as needed. Requirements * Experience: Three (3) years of full time professional social casework experience, acquired after the degree in a public or private social services agency, in an area appropriate to the position. * Education & Training: * Bachelor's Degree in one of the human behavioral science fields. * An MSW may substitute for 2 years of the required experience.
