We are looking for an experienced, self-motivated, and educated payroll tax analyst. In this role, you must be experienced with U.S. multi-state payrolls tax legislations, reciprocity rules, and labor and employment tax regulations. If you have a passion for payroll tax research, a mind made for detail, past payroll compliance experience, and a love for providing excellent customer service, you may be a good fit for the Maximus payroll team.

Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Review Federal, State and Local payroll tax returns processed by vendor.
• Ensure accurate tax rates, account IDs, and deposit frequency.
• Receive, review and make determination on all tax notices and tax refund checks including federal, state, and local. Prepare state and local account registration and closures.
• Acts as liaison between our external service providers, tax authorities, and internal teams to manage state tax registrations and resolve payroll tax issues.
• Perform quarterly and annual year-end tax functions including, W-2 verifications and wage and tax corrections in the system.
• Prepare relevant journal entries, general ledger tax account reconciliations. Ensure the accuracy of the state and local tax set up on the employee record.
• Manage and supervise multiple tasks with a proven ability to adapt quickly to changing strategic priorities; Maintain and track a calendar of all payroll tax returns.
• Research appropriate solutions and work with necessary parties, such as General Ledger, Human Resources, HRIS, Benefits and IT team to resolve issues.
• As the subject matter expert (SME), provide answers to payroll tax inquires and resolves all discrepancies as they arise.
• Recommend new approaches, policies, and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department and tasks performed. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

• Bachelors Degree
• Minimum of 3 years of related experience.

Additional Requirements:

• Minimum of 3 years of multi-state payroll tax experience
• Strong Excel skills
• Costpoint and Deltek experience
• UKG experience is a plus

Education and Experience Requirements

• 5 - 7 years of equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree
• Must have payroll tax experience
• UKG experience strongly preferred
• Costpoint and Deltek experience is a plus

Pay Transparency

Maximus compensation is based on various factors including but not limited to job location, a candidate's education, training, experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value analysis including seniority and merit systems, as well as internal pay alignment. Annual salary is just one component of Maximus's total compensation package. Other rewards may include short- and long-term incentives as well as program-specific awards.
