A. Lovell Federal Health Care Center (FHCC) located at 3001 Green Bay Road, North Chicago, IL 60064. Services will be delivered in multiple departments of the facility. Multiple full-time and part-time positions are available. Shifts include: 4:30AM-1:00PM or 5:30AM-2:00PM (no weekends or holidays, no after hours on-call ) Ansible Government Solutions, LLC (Ansible) is a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing Federal customers with solutions in many arenas. Responsibilities Performs the full range of routine, non-routine, and specialized procedures in the histology laboratory using manual and automated techniques to produce slides of tissue specimens for examination. Tissue samples may be of any size or condition and may require a wide variety of special stained slides requiring many complex and delicate processes Maintains laboratory facilities, equipment, and equipment records used in surgical pathology/cytology Maintains the integrity of pathologic specimens due to their irreproducible Prepares and evaluates microscopic slides of a variety of specimen Assists with autopsies Grosses anatomic pathology specimens Prepares cell blocks and slides from cytology Performs cytology prep activities and procedures Prepares fixatives and solutions for tissue processing, staining, and labeling of containers and requisitions Embeds tissue specimens in paraffin Cuts sections of tissue using a mictotome, stains sections, and cover slips Conducts and assists with quality control issues and procedures, maintains proper laboratory records and documentation for accreditation by inspection Qualifications A Bachelor-level degree in a related field from an accredited educational institution ASCP professional certification or equivalent Nationally-recognized Histology Technologist certification or categorical certification in histopathology A minimum of two (2) years of related experience Experience with the Vista Laboratory Information System (LIS) is preferred EEO Statement Ansible Government Solutions, LLC is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment to all employees and applicants for employment.
